We had a lunch here as a group of 11. We found them to be very accommodating. They even moved us, as half the group was sitting in the sun (made the seats very hot). Between us we had a range of food and drinks....Everything was brough out in a timely manner and the food was fantastic. The staff are helpful and friendly, the place is clean and tidy including the toilets. And, I personally think the prices are good for a place that holds a monopoly - you have to expect to pay above average around these areas, that make their money in summer.More
Wow we were shocked. Auckland prices, but they are serving extremely small dishes for the price. My mixed plate was tiny for $35. My partners main was also $35 - the pork. 2 slices of meat and some apple sauce !! THAT WAS IT! Oh...and a very disappointing pinch of herbs. Felt like we had been ripped off. Not a great feeling.More
Thanks for helping us again with our Whole Food Plant Based meals. We've been multiple times and the chefs always take care to make meals that suit our quite tricky diet. Fabulous place.
Ordered from the wonderful waitresperson the mixedgrilled thingamebob, whatever flash name they call it, described as crisy bacon , chorizos, spring onion and herbs with sauteed potatos, and two fried eggs to your liking. I had asked for a side of "roast mushrooms", as the...chef "cant do" sauteed mushrooms ( cant be faffed obviously , from what's coming next). $30 is an expensive meal , but I'd driven a long way off SH1 to eat there, so, ok. The place is very pleasant sso the longish wait didnt wrankle too much. Only about 1/4 full so, er, but the coffee was passable. Then I was presented with "breakfast. What a mess. What a rip-off. What a cynical profiteering underdelivery of gunk. A mixed grill brekky is the place of hungry blokes and blokesses. It genrally features 1-2 chirizos, a sausage or so, 2-3 full rashers of decent bacon , 2 eggs and pan-fried potatoe of some sort, deliciously mildly toasty sauteed with onion, etc. THIS MUCK was a very cynical content, but in micro doses of each ingredient, splodged amongst the oiliest excuse for sauteed potatoe 10mm cubes pre-boiled cubes I never thought could exist outside some sick comedy. I detected 4 (!) yes 4) tiny chips of bacon and 4 (!) yes 4) tiny slivers of chorizo and virtually no spring onion washed amongst the ~2 tablespoons of preboiled oily barely heated potatoe fodder. What a scam. The mushrooms were roasted, and edible, but the chef ( LOL, this isnt a chef) couldnt even bother to put any herbs or garlic ( which I'd asked for) .. they were jjust dry, wizzenned extras from a Lord of the Rings backdrop scene. The eggs were el cheapo production jobbies, not even good quality ( I wouldn't usually care much, but the vastly el cheapo nature of everything else had riled me) . I sent it back. The floor Manager knew what was coming, I could tell ("oh bugger, someone's on to our scam"was the look in his eyes). They had the temerity to charge me for the coffee, as I left , disgusted.. to drive to Mangawhai (Raost Cafe) where I has a similar mixed grilled with the works for $24, that was awesome !. . Ive sat down and worked out the material content of that dish was ~$1.90-2.20... then I sat down and worked out the material content of a decent $24 mixed grill brekkie to be around $6.00-7.00.. That $7.00 figure still gives a very good fair margin, so this is a Cove joint that's screwing people, relying on it's wonderful position and captive locals to under-deliver shocking food. Seriousy, I checked out another same-dish on someone elses table and it was the same deal. Disgraceful. J.A.C. ; Just Avoid Cove.More
This is a great place to eat, it is a very open style restaurant which is perfect in these Covid times, the staff were very friendly and the food was really tasty. I very much doubt you will regret going, we went many times.
We enjoyed the best fish and chips here recently while staying at the Waipu campground. Fabulous coffee too.
Great tasting food options that were value for money. Amazing margaritas and the staff were excellent - attentive and welcoming. Would eat there for every meal if we could.
This restaurant is a favourite of the friends that I went there with. This was my first time and I would hope that it isn’t my last. From the start when we were greeted well to the time we were farewelled it was so good...and professional. I ordered a menu item and was told by the waiter that the changes I wanted were not possible and they suggested an alternative that was even better. My friends were also happy with their choices and it was so good.More
We tried this place several times as we were staying at Langs beach. First try was takeaway fish and chips - chips were good but fish was really dry (I gave it to the seagulls). Then we had dinner at the restaurant. My lamb shoulder...turned out to be a plate full of pulled lamb with the odd piece of diced carrot scattered on top and a few blobs of feta. Quite tasteless. The next day I gave lunch a go. The Caesar salad consisted of lettuce, scattered with Parmesan and pine nuts, with dressing. That's it - no bacon, egg, anchovies. We also tried the pizza which was good. There are some quite creative combinations. Not sure about combining prawns and olives on a pizza though..More
