Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had the most delicious food here!!! We ordered prawn sagwala, butter chicken and garlic cheese naan with Kingfisher beer. Service was excellent. Restaurant was very clean with nice modern decor. The real star was the food! Best indian that I have had in New...Zealand and it is one of my favorite cuisines. I eat it every week. The food was fresh and so full of flavor. Both dishes were equally delicious. I am already planning my next day trip down from Auckland to eat here again. Very reasonably priced too. Highly recommend to eat here if you are anywhere near Te Aroha!More

The best Indian meal we have both had for a very long time, the service was impeccable, the restaurant was clean and tidy. The food was absolutely stunning and the Nann breads were the best we have ever had. Will definitely be back.

Excellent Indian meal in this beautiful little Waikato town. Our family ordered beef korma, chicken saag, a daal dish and a butter chicken, as well as rice and several different naan breads. We were able to choose how hot each dish was, so we got...one mild and three medium curries. Any hotter than medium would have been too hot for us, but medium was perfect. The drinks list was very good, with three of four good options for Red & white wines by the glass or bottle, as well as Indian and NZ beers. Servings were quite generous, and all the food was delicious. We left quite satisfied, and agreed it was good quality Indian food at very good value prices, and friendly service from the staff and proprietor.More

This is one of the best Indian restaurants in NZ. We had lunch there and arrived about 1/2 hour before closing but there was no pressure from the staff to hurry and finish our meal. The staff are friendly and helpful. The samosas have lovely...thin crispy pastry and the Dahl Makahni was the best we've had anywhere with lovely fresh ginger and cardamom pods. Highly recommended if you go to Te Aroha.More

Myself, husband and 2 young Grandchildren dined at the Taj Indian Saturday night. The food was all outstanding. My Prawn Masala was full of flavour and my husband's Chicken Tikka Zal-Frezi was the chefs special receipe. Amazing. The Garlic Naan would have to be the...best I have ever had. Kids had butter chicken and butter prawns. We will be heading back there next time when we are in Te ArohaMore

My partner and I popped in for dinner on Sundaybefore a spa and couldn’t fault it. Staff were lovely, food was delicious and in general everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I think one of the young waitresses was fairly new but she was doing...a great job and they were very helpful and welcoming. Thanks Taj TeAroha, We will be back!More

We have been to Taj twice, both on public holidays. Both visits the restaurant was busy with dine in and takeaway service. The service was great, despite a minor glitch where our condiments were forgotten. The food is the stand out performer here, delicious, well...presented meals. The samosas are the best I have had, hand made by the chef. The range of dishes available means something for everyone who loves Indian cuisine. My partner loved his tandoori prawns!More

Fantastic little Indian restaurant run by a wonderful family from Punjab - authentic and delicious. The staff were so great - we even got to meet the chef and owner who opened the restaurant 20+ years ago.

Friendly service, and tasty food. We are in and the place seemed quiet but during our time there loads of people came to collect takeaways. Obviously a popular place in town.
