Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were doing a bike ride along the Hauraki Rail Trail and stopped for lunch at Cafe 77. We were very glad we did as the food was exceptional. I had a very fresh and interesting salad. One of our party had a steak sandwich...was looked amazing. All the food was served quickly, was very fresh and well presented.More

Went for breakfast and ordered a large flat white coffee which came prior to the food. I'm ok with that but was disappointed that the coffee was not hot only warm. Why can't cafes use a thermometer to get the correct temperature or does the...customer have to actually ask for "a hot flat white coffee". The rest of my meal was fine, but not the coffee.More

Paid $25 for over zapped quiche, basic green salad & coffee. Feel extremely pricey for mediocre lunch. Coffee great . Realize should have questioned price before consuming !

Stopped here after recommendation. Cafe wasn’t busy but had to wait ages at counter to try and place order. Customer in front wasn’t sure what to order and was looking through menu but staff didn’t ask while he was making up his mind if they...could take my order and I was ordering from cabinet, eventually she served customer in front then the phone rang and that took preference over me and was answered without any acknowledgement that I was still waiting. Gave up and left. Very disappointing service.More

Stopped in here on our cycle trail from Matamata to Te Aroha. Nice cafe , plenty room with great outdoor soace, tables. Good food and beverage selection, we had couple coffee frappe's and shared a scone. Looks as though it would also be a great campervan...stop , nicely set up for it. Definitely recommended pit stop when doing the cycle trail. Will be backMore

Stopped here for a great hot coffee and yummy muffin. Loved sitting out on the deck. Plenty of food choices, but it was all we needed.

Very unimpressed by the whole experience. Couldn't find entry into cafe. Could see someone inside smiling at our confusion. Sure this was the manager ". Cold reception by a young girl. When I asked for the breakfast menu was told to check on line, which...we did. Thought someone would come to take our order but no I had to go to the counter to ask. When our coffee arrived it was lukewarm and unpleasant. My husband did enjoy his breakfast but it looked as if it had been made by an inexperienced chef. Presentation was awful. Only reason I would return is to take my grandchildren to the climbing wall.More

My partner loves the coffee here & I usually have a savoury scone. We often call in & enjoy watching people use the climbing wall visible through windows inside cafe, if we don't want to sit on the spacious verandah.

A lovely spot in the Waikato, we love looking for new places to try. Beautiful views of the ranges in the distance, lovely sunny day. Two of us ordered the corn fritter stack, it couldn't really be called a stack, quite doughy and dense, so...may need to rejig the recipe. So really did need the pickle and sour cream. The salad was very nice though with it. Husband ordered the brisket burger and was very nice, father in-law had the eggs bene, no complaints there. Our Server asked us twice in a 3 minute time frame if we were waiting on anything else and was dying to take away table number, twice we had to say "yes...food", so perhaps more training given, or try and remember your customers... very odd. Overall it was adequate, except for the fritters.More

This is an unexpected treasure in a tiny rural village. The cafe is in an historic dairy factory, but has a very modern vibe. There is a wide shaded deck with stunning views of the nearby ranges, and clever decor indoors. The food is produced...in-house, even the delicious little macaroons. Try the Pina colada version! The datiest date scone I’ve ever had was also excellent. It’s a pretty 45 min drive from Hamilton so a great place for a midweek lunch. Free parking.More
