We are just coming to the end of our two week tour of Switzerland and Italy, having started in Geneva and finished in Amalfi and along the way we have experienced a wide range of food and drink... without a doubt the best restaurant we ate at was Parravicini. Very good regional food with fresh ingredients and knowledgeable staff made this our favourite by a long way and at quite a reasonable cost compared to others we sampled. As recommended by our hotel host I had the Pizzoccherri, something I had never tried before and it was superb. Great desserts as well including a creme brulle which was one of the best I've ever had. What a great find!

We chose to eat outside in a very quiet piazza. We started with the very good risotto, then beef for me and duck for my wife. These were accompanied by the excellent local wine - Grumello Valtellina - that the waitress recommended. With desserts and coffees the bill was €124. We were passing through Tirano, arriving and leaving on the Bernina Express train. The restaurant is less than a 10 minute walk from the station, so complemented our rail journey perfectly.

House in the Parravicini palace, this restaurant and wine bar is a great place for a lunch or dinner just on the edge of Tirano’s old town. The Sciatt cheese balls served with bresaola ham were a very good recommendation from the serving staff for a starter, they are a very typical local delicacy. The beef cheek was absolutely outstanding with an extra serving of polenta on the side, after all this is polenta country. There are also plenty of wines to choose from as this area prides itself on its wine production. The prices are a bit less Italian given the proximity of Switzerland but this is still great value for money for a special meal.

A little style over substance but I may have chosen badly as others seemed to get much more appealing food! The Steak Tartare was totally tasteless. There was a green sauce on the plate that again had absolutely no flavour. My experience of Steak Tartare has been of beautifully seasoned meat with egg yolk. But it was totally bland and unseasoned. The steak with rosemary potatoes was just that…no sauce, just slices of steak with quite hard potatoes. However my husband had the Deer Chops which he really liked and we shared a cheeseboard which was lovely. What I would say is that if you are going to put anything on a plate, it should make a positive contribution to the taste of the dish. Smudges of red and dots of orange may be pretty but did not contribute in any way to the flavour.

Good creative cooking inspired by local culinary traditions, with plenty of modern twists. Splendid service, quiet outdoor eating space was well-visited by locals on a Saturday night. Strongly recommended!

This restaurant is truly outstanding. The food was superb, as was the atmosphere and service. My wife and I shared an order of Sciatt and an order of Pizzoccheri (both were deliciousand several of our friends also shared different appetizers and entrees. Not only did the servers let us pay separately, the kitchen divided our orders between the people who ordered them. Everyone in our group was delighted with their food and their experience.

Had dinner here while staying overnight in Tirano for the Bernina express. Nicely located in the old town and is housed within an amazing building that has a lot of character and a great atmosphere. We were sat downstairs near the wine cellar which was nice. Food was delicious. We shared the salmon and the cheese balls to start. Both were excellent. We then both had the boar Ragu pasta - it was extremely tasty and was the highlight of the meal. Service was good with everyone being very friendly and welcoming. Drinks were a little confusing if you didn't want a bottle of wine. Beer options were small or large (700ml) for €4 or €17 respectively and a glass of wine options were between €4 and €8 without knowing the wine. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and would have no issues recommending it as a place to eat to anyone visiting the area

We went to have dinner, the restaurant looks and feels like a cave, lack of fresh air Food was realy bad, curious combinations but not tasty. In fact, they are not able to cook a piece of meat , we ordered "medium" and got a rare filet, set it back to the kitchen and got it back the same bloody meat. They say that this is their " medium". Interesting, they re-invented the cooking? The other dish was pork ribs , the net quantity of meat was maybe 50 gr, this is except the bones. We left hungry and went to eat a pizza in town. So do not let be foolish by the pompous name of the dishes, the food is just bad. As a plus: bread was tough as shoe sole!

After a wonderful trip across the alps on the Bernina Express, before the return we strolled around the old town (highly recommended - get a map from Information at the station) we had lunch here, having booked a couple of weeks ago. Lovely situation on an old square and the food was fabulous, superb starters, spaghetti cooked to perfection, great desserts. Again, highly recommended

Tirano is a nice place to stop after the Bernina Express trip. You can easy find this restaurant by following the signs, implemented by the Tirano municipality. It is just 7-8 minutes walk from the station. The stuff is very welcoming. The food is just great, Lombardy style. The service is very fast.

Sweet place with lots of different areas. Excellent service by the female waitress who was efficient, funny and knowledgeable. The food was good but not exceptional; my venison was a little tough and the pizzocheri included undercooked potato. However, the wines by the glass were excellent and well priced and the pudding with Braulio was a dream. Definitely worth a visit.

This was one of the most enjoyable meals, high quality food tucked away in a small town. We were in town to ride the Bernini Express and this is such a lovely town and this restaurant was so unexpected. We had reservations which i recommend as the place was hopping. We were seated in the main wine cellar room which was so lovely. Our server didn’t speak great english but we got by. The menu has a lot of variety. My husband had the prefix menu of the Sciatt on a bed of cicorino (Fried cheese on lettuce), Pizzoccheri of Valtellina (Noodles w/ cheese butter & garlic), Pork fillet with dark beer, crunchy lard and taroz from Valtellina (Pork Tenderloin w/ mashed potatoes & green beans) & Apple pie on Valtellina milk cream (Basically and apple cake on cream). I had the Sliced beef with sautéed potatoes with rosemary & Crem Brûlée w/ raspberry sorbet. I had them make an espresso martini and it was the best of my life. Everything was amazing and portions were huge but prices were still reasonable.

The restaurant is very quaint and classy. The seating arrangement was good and the noise level in the restaurant was very good. On the first day, I ordered food belonging to the menu(3 courses), and on the second visit, I ordered Lasagna, but the style was different from the recipe I knew before. Ate very well. The wine selections were also very good. Staff members were also very friendly.

Excellent meal in beautiful surroundings. All dishes were prepared with fresh local ingredients to a very high standard. We had duck, beef and pasta dishes all of equally high quality. Deserts were also excellent. Wine list containing many excellent local wines at a reasonable price. Staff attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
