Stopped here for lunch on they way to Invercargill. Delicious food and drinks and really comfortable atmosphere. The staff are super nice and really helpful. The cinnamon rolls are to die for!!

This is a really dated cafe/restaurant- in both its style, as well as the types of food available. While my husband was content to eat deep fried cod and fries, I struggled to find anything light and healthy. In the end I chose a sandwich,...that turned out to be soggy and tasteless. The coffee was not up to current barrsta standards.More

Dining at the Capri is like stepping back 40 years. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Tasty food, reasonable price and service that you just don't get or even expect these days.

Ok so we arrived 1.50pm and not realising they were closing at 2.00pm. We were told not to dit in a cetain area as they had just cleaned it. Bad decision. I have been in cafe before and have never had staff cleaning and packing...up while customers are in shop. I adked for a single shot latte extra hot and a latte in a mug. The waitress arrived with two coffees in a mug not extra hot and they were both single shot. I said which one is the single shot her reply was they are both single shot. A decent latte in a mug is NOT a single shot. I did not enjoy our visit and we wont be backMore

We visited for lunch hoping to have some famous Southland cheese rolls but changed our minds when we saw they were sitting in a warming cabinet and weren’t freshly cooked. Instead we ordered some other hot food, including two hot dogs. I took two bites...into a hot dog and discovered it was still frozen in the middle. I told the staff, who apologised and took both hotdogs away and cooked them some more. They brought the same hot dog back out with the bites out of it, refried. While it was hot through, they were still gross - gluggy thick batter and horrible meat. Fortunately the rest of the food was much better - the lamingtons were fantastic. However the service was downright weird. Young blonde woman serving was hassling a young male diner- continually hassling him about how annoying he was and how he wasn’t welcome in the cafe. Very uncomfortable for other diners. It turned out he must of been an off duty staff member, as she started telling him how he should work the shift so she could go home. He clearly didn’t find it entertaining (as we didn’t) and he eventually told her to f*** off! Not ideal in front of customers (including children). Overall a very disappointing visit. Step it up Capri.More

Great stop between Dunedin and Invercargill, to enjoy lovely cheese rolls. Service was slow on the drinks, but it’s a good sign they were busy and everything fresh and tasty.
