We stopped here for a late breakfast before hopping in the car to continue our journey. The food was good and I enjoyed the idea of incorporating the pancake cafe with the infamous pancake rocks. Cute place!

We stopped at the cafe for the first time in 2019 and then stopped for breakfast today. The prices are high and one does not get value for money. I asked the lady at the desk to ensure that the yolks of the eggs were...very well cooked but apparently that means serve only the whites of the eggs... no yolks. Employ staff that understand English. I asked her if she understood my request and she said yes. My wife had the pancake breakfast and didn't finish her food. I won't be back.More

I use to work at this place when it first started and it was amazing Now been twice in the last t6 years both times meals over priced and the standard is very low I feel for $27.50 for a breakfast was over priced 2...eggs 1 sauage 1 piece of bacon half of tomoto 2 hash browns a few mushrooms and a foul tastying sauce on carbarta bread . What I couldnt believe the worker said that she has to charge and extra 15% ont top of the bill to cover the wages for a public holiday I would like people to go to Barrytown or Punakaiki hotels would be a better dealMore

We had lunch during our Punakaiki Pororari loop walk so we were very hungry. We were not disappointed.

For a community struggling to keep its head above water and survive the COVID storm, you would think they would pull out all the stops to make sure their hospitality standards would keep the few tourists they have coming back. We are staying in Punakaiki...for 5 nights and decided to check out the food at the Pancake Rocks café. We ordered the pancakes, why wouldn't you? The food arrived so quickly that there's no way these were made fresh. We each received 3 "pancakes" which were more like half baked scone mix - they tasted stale and were so stodgy they stuck to your teeth and the roof of your mouth. They were just about inedible. For $23 these were just dreadful. Unfortunately we ordered pizza to take away for our evening meal at the same time - we ordered the meat lovers "gourmet pizza" for $30. What we received was just shocking - the thinnest pizza possible with 4 small pieces of chicken and a sprinkling of what looked like minced beef. Thank god I cooked a couple of meals to bring with us, "just in case" - we won't be back.More

Poor! You would think the $20 pancake stacks would be good as your near the Pancakes Rocks. But the stacks were are lifeless as the service. Bland and horrible, that’s how I would describe this place and it’s food

Went here today after a fabulous visit to pancake rocks. While the coffee was nice and hot the staff were incredibly unwelcoming. I go to a lot of cafes and usually staff are great. It really stood out at this cafe how unwelcome I felt...and I felt a nuisance to the staff that I wanted to buy something. No water available either. I guess most of their business are passing through on holiday just once so they dont need to bother with being pleasant to get return business. Unless your desperate give it a miss.More

We've been to this cafe several times and the coffee is great. It was this time too. The fries we had were great too.

Wedding anniversary meal so not impressed with overcooked poached eggs, hard in the middle, cold salmon and the fact we had to purchase our own water. Sorry but once bitten twice shy...

Although the coffee and savoury scone were great, the non existent welcome from staff was not, kept talking to each other to the point where we were about to walk out

When we visited in November, the coffee was not up to the standards we had come to expect in the places we visited in NZ's South Island. We had lattes or cappuccino every day and this was the first time we had encountered... More
