Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Handy location for pancake rock trail. Nice coffee. Hard working staff. Quirky inside like tables with coffee beans under counter. Clean and friendly. Thanks.

We arrived well after lunchtime so I wax disappointed that all the GF & DF food was already sold. But I settled for a meal of fish, potatoes & salad and it was surprisingly good. My partner had the pancakes, which he also enjoyed. The...buzzer system is a bit odd, but all of the staff were good. So we definitely left feeling satisfied.More

Our experience was one of chaos. Wanted a light lunch and coffee.$5.70 was somewhat average. Buzzers supplied to advise you when your order is ready, although food and beverage teams do not seem to co ordinate. The flashing buzzing circular device is the signal to...go get your coffee then wait until the incorrect food order is offered. Service is somewhat lacking and the ambience is of a second hand furniture store.More

After the excitement of Pancake Rocks the Wild Coast Cafe gave us the chance to relax with a delicious light bite and a decent cup of coffee.

A friend did warn me that the coffee was not good. However we got 3 coffees, the large size which was quite small, it was overpriced and barely hot, tepid in fact. I would not recommend this place.

We stopped here for morning tea in this awesome spot of New Zealand after walking to Pancake rocks blowhole across the road, sat in front of the heater and enjoyed coffee in the Lounge chairs in the atrium...magic

We did the walkway which was fantastic. And thought we would grab a coffee to takeaway. Bad choice! A small coffee costs $4.90 plus you pay an extra 50 cents for the cup. No one smiled. Obviously need new management to change the culture. Liven...it up guys. Show some interest in your visitors , ask how the walk went etc then we wouldn't mind so much paying top dollar for your coffeeMore

The food was bordering on average, the coffee was okay and the system of getting your own food was a little bit annoying but the staff was nice and helpful. Overall not the best place to go for lunch but not a horrible experience.

We were made welcome for morning tea with coffee and brownies. It was well patronised with lots of crafts for sale. A car park was handy to this area.

We were a little bit disappointed as our coffees were on the higher range of what we normally pay in NZ but were not hot and although the people there were on the whole polite and friendly did not seem interested in fixing the problem...so we ended up not enjoying hot coffees as we had planned. They have a nice range of food to choose from and we enjoyed our muffins and a sandwich each. A bit of a mixed experience overall.More

This cafe serves excellent food! It's just a shame that it isn't open at night because there isn't a lot of competition for The Tavern and I think the Wild Coast Cafe would give visitors an excellent alternative.

It was very quiet when we popped in but we were treated warmly and we had a freshly made muffin and some delicious coffees. The soy milk was steamed to perfection!

I don't normally review cafes but this one was absolutely awful. I payed $6 for a coffee that was luke-warm, and had to pick it up myself even though I was the only person in the cafe. Loved Punakaiki and the area though, shame about...this place.More

One of the most appalling cafe's I have had the misfortune to visit. Transient workers who were more interested in playing practical jokes with each other than acknowledge customers. Ordered a coffee and raisin toast, coffee was cold, week and watery, and the raisin toast,...which took 24 minutes to arrive with only 2 other customers in the cafe is best described as stodgy raisin Cake. Not toast! After watching a staff member wearing a kitchen towel on there head making fun of previous guests, we had better inquire where the toast had got too! I can honestly say I would never return nor would I recommend anyone waste their money!More
