We had an early dinner at Down Thyme today and it was superb. Their standards are high and we could tell that our meal was made from scratch with great care. Service was first class too. We thoroughly recommend it.

Best food I’ve eaten in NZ!!! The fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked, as were the potatoes. Delicious! The owner welcomed us to her restaurant, which felt like I was in her home. I highly recommend this restaurant with excellent food prepared with love and...experience.More
The nicest lunch ever. The food was so fresh and cooked to perfection. The hospitality from the owners was incredible - what a lovely couple! The baklava is a must try!
Came here on a cold Saturday night, however as soon as stepping into Down Thyme the warmth in every respect was there. Wonderful food, shared the platter, such an excellent way to savour all the different meats and accompaniments which were delicious. A great choice...of wine by the glass which was perfect for this style of food- Gewurtz, riesling, and reds. A family run place so friendly, and although we were the last to leave never felt hurried. A wonderful evening.More
I cannot say enough about this place. This is a must visit if you are in the area. We were driving through on our way back to Auckland and found it on google. I feel so lucky to have found this gem. The hospitality and...service alone was 10 stars. The owner/chef was a one man show and left us in awe. I wish i could put him in my pocket and bring him to America with me. The food was absolutely excellent. Everything was made from scratch and made to order. We are not staying in the area otherwise i would go there again tomorrow for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I hope that someday I can make my way back to NZ and eat there once again.More
We stumbled upon this special restaurant while overnighting in Waihi. The food is lovely with a mediteranean flavour- as is the setting -the staff genuine and welcoming, the owner a delight....Would recommend to anyone ! Enjoyed the licorice tower, soup and kebabs...as well as a...great burger and chunky homemade fries 10/10 :-)More
A gréât find on our journey north. Delicious Mediterranean dishes and a great chilled vibe. We shared a dip platter and skewers and then topped it off with a fab Turkish coffee and desserts. Love that everything is made locally. The service was really good...and the chef’s visit to our table a delight!More
Wonderful service and even better food. We discovered this delightful out of the way place and we are making plan for a return. Highly recommended.
Two polished plates!! Good honest delicious food at reasonable prices. Service was friendly and accommodating. You should try it, a hidden gem.
Delicious meal, could not fault. Great flavour and good portions. Thank you. If we livedin Waihi we would be regulars. Highly recommend. 👍

The warmest welcome from the minute we arrived. The host/chef made you feel like you had walked into their family home. The food was delicious and the service was the best. Would highly recommend it.
Pulled up in the town of Waiti and decided to check on trip adviser where to have lunch This place is outside the town about one and half km but is was a treasure lovely freshly cooked prawns and an incredible baked cheese cheese cake...A true findMore
From the warm welcome to the last sip of wine, we had a delightful family evening in every way. The venue is beautiful and has ample easy parking. We started with a delicious shared entrée of bread and dips, followed by the magnificent Mediterranean Platter...for the adults and a gourmet hamburger for our teenager. Every bite a treat - Chef Roland and Chefette Mufide really know their food and wine! Dessert was the taste-bud tingling Licorice Tower, with licorice ice cream topped with licorice liqueur. Mmmmmm. A perfect treat for all.More
The owners are absolutely lovely and more than happy to have a chat to make your experience better. The food is on par with some of the best in Auckland.
