We found this by chance, when we were looking for a cafe, after cycling from Karangahake to Waihi. It does feel at first like you’re walking into someone’s garden, but when you go round the back it’s a lovely quiet garden. The scones were amazing...and warm. My wife had the sweet one with cream and home-made plum jam, mine was the savoury with butter on the side. Both were beautifully baked, light, not dry at all and tasted really good! The coffee was also great. They also have bike parking, so you don’t have to worry about leaving your bike on the road. If you’re cycling to Waihi and want somewhere to stop, relax and enjoy great food and coffee in a lovely quiet garden, this is well worth finding. Kate and Will were charming and friendly tooMore
Only open Thursday to Sunday 10 till 4 during summer. Serving a limited selection of homemade open sandwiches, scones and cakes + coffees, a good selection of loose teas and lovely hot chocolate. I sampled almost everything over my 5 visits and all were excellent...with the savoury scone being the best I have ever tasted! Kate & Will intended to attract cyclists and walkers doing the Hauraki rail trail but they have also attracted a number of locals who have become regular customers. One of the locals being the friend I was staying with. It is a lovely setting and they are a very friendly and welcoming young couple.More
