We had dinner here every evening during a week’s time and we never left hungry or disappointed. The servings are quite big but the food is really great especially the fried pepperonis! The Saturday special was also amazing. I also like their honesty as they tell you that the octopus is frozen and not fresh. Also the staff is really friendly. We really recommend this restaurant.

Can highly recommend this family owned, traditional taverna situated in the village of Mavrovouni and not far from Gytheio. There is the option to eat inside or outside in the lovely garden. Love that they still serve wine in the traditional tin jugs and my favourite meal is always a plate full of lamb chops which are always cooked to perfection. Every year we are made to feel extremely welcome and George, one of the brothers, is a crazy, friendly loveable guy who tries his best to teach us Greek but we are hopeless, lol.

My husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon/afternoon.
It was very nice, we got potato salad, fried potatoes, Kayana with sausage, feta and synglino, pumpkin meatballs. And my husband also took a liver.

We stumbled upon this place by chance and I must say that we were very satisfied.
First piece of advice: don't enter this village by car, you will regret it bitterly! Try to park at the bottom and walk uphill: it is impossible to find a space and the streets are narrow, all one-way streets and with locals parking everywhere, creating many maneuvering problems.
Having said that, the place has a beautiful garden, the staff is truly very hospitable and the food is delicious and characterized by strong dominance of the territory. We ate well and spent the right amount. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Everything was great.. The food?! Excellent! The staff and the owner?! Wonderful, courteous, friendly and professional. If you go to Gythio, take a walk by the tavern.. It has some of the best food, all fresh, delicious and the prices are normal. We went twice.. The first night we went late and ran out of dessert and were treated to watermelon at the end, the second night we went they brought us a double piece of dessert (on their own) each, to "compensate" us for the previous night which was over for them.. If we find ourselves again in the southern Peloponnese we will definitely go again!!

Taste great local food. Bread in olive oil toasted with herbs with different lick dips. Warm service by Gregor and his colleagues. Everything tasted fresh and was prepared coherently. We've been here several times. Nice seating on the terrace under trees. Food cheap and delicious. Most of the time there was panacotta as dessert for free or an ouzo. Payment in cash or by card. Real Greek tavern frequented by real Greeks. Even tourists who stay in the surrounding area, like us at Cavo Grosso Bungalows, like to go there. When you arrive to Mavrovouni everyone tells you to go and eat there. A little overestimated, food was nice but nothing really extremely special. Service and especially Giorgos are really excellent and their prices are very good.

Very beautiful place with a nice sea view. Helpful staff with generous portions. We got the patzarolata which is worth trying with the pumpkin meatballs. Very good prices and at the end we got a tasty sweet (caramel panna cotta)!

Very nice restaurant apparently and would recommend it to all of you! Great food and service.

Keftek 10/10 was nothing missing!
Suvlaki (part): 10/10 also nothing was missing and the pepper in between was a classic detail.
Cheese pie: 9/10 clearly because I'm not "fan". Otherwise great!
Cucumber: 9/10 just because I prefer German!

Country: 10/10 very fresh and juicy!

We enjoyed our first meal here so much we returned two days later for more! We had a wonderfully warm welcome from Giorgos. The food was delicious and prices so reasonable. Would highly recommend this typical Greek taverna.

What should I try!! The space is wonderful and comfortable, the food is by far the best in the area, the prices are reasonable and the service is the store's greatest asset! I cannot fail to mention that the pulse of the service is given by a charismatic personality, George, but also the rest of the guys are excellent! It goes without saying that we will go again 💗
