Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The building and grounds are extremely beautiful and made for a very pleasant setting. Unfortunately the food and service did not match. The menu had a good selection however our orders weren’t cooked well. Fries were undercooked but the fish was somehow over cooked. To...be fair, the side salad was very tasty. Consensus from our party was that the food was average at best. Coffee orders were cold with one order of coffee spilled so much the saucer beneath it was quite full. Instead of remaking it, the waiter mopped it up with a napkin. The worst part of the experience was our daughter was yelled at for touching the glass of the fish tank. She has learning difficulties which makes it hard for her to follow instruction. There is a sign which says don’t touch which we were quick to put right and she only touched it momentarily. However, the gentleman behind the counter (who appeared to be the owner) started to yell at her telling her she can’t touch the glass. Our daughter was definitely in the wrong and we aren’t denying that fact but the manner in which she was yelled at was completely inappropriate . Would not recommend anyone wasting their time or money.More

Spent a lovely morning at Mia Flora Café and Garden Centre in Winchester last Sunday. A tasty breakfast served with leaf tea (at last, after teabags all over NZ) and an extra pot of hot water without me asking – they know how to serve...breakfast at this café. A wander around the attractive English style garden is an absolute must. Little paths lead to secret garden beds, with elegant sculptures tucked in surprising places. Beautifully kept lawns and flowering plants abound. There are two gift shops, one inside the gorgeous Kavanagh House, and one in the lush garden centre. I ended my visit to this delightful spot with a good take away coffee. Highly recommended.More

We stopped for a coffee and were delighted to discover a beautiful immacute garden setting with lovely outdoor alcoves as well as indoor seating decorated in the style of the grand house. The garden merged with the nursery with many healthy, unusual plants and garden...nicnacks. Both the owners were very friendly and happy to chat. This will be a stop on our next trip south. Mia Flora really has it all. A beautiful building wonderfully restored and decorated surrounded by a beautiful garden. They have 2 bows to their business: 1. The Cafe where we had a great brunch serviced quickly and delicious too . 2. The Garden Centre which...is a tourist destination in itself. So good to see the boys from Kalamunda in Western Australia have recreated their brand here in NZ - and what a success. Nice people, a great place to stop and rest, relax and recharge. Treat yourself and go visit them.More

The stately home housing the Cafe is gorgeous as is their gardens & decor. Great gift shop with reasonable prices. Friendly service too. The food is OK, nothing to rave about.

The gardens are great to wonder around, the house has some very interesting contents to admire, the seating for the excellent coffee and cake ranges from comfortable indoors to excellent outdoors on the terrace by the stream.

Marvellous historic venue, exquisite and exotic desserts, fine coffee, delightful service, but the salad was stale, old and looked and tasted like it was pulled out from the compost heap. Dining in a museum would describe our experience, which we loved. We loved the furnishings....Friendly host with good banter.More

A number of reviewers have used the term Treasure and that is exactly what Miaflora is. The elegant old homestead is lovingly cared for with an eclectic mix and a lovely ambience....the service in the cafe is always friendly, welcoming and attentive. The food is...divine...in fact, I have had to apologise on a number of occasions for my partners finger and nose prints left on the dessert cabinet....he's like a kid in a candy store !!! The gardens are magical and always evolving and a wonderful place to wander...there are delightful spots to sit, stunning artworks to gaze upon, beautiful birds to admire and you may even be entertained by the 'Horticulturalist'...no simple 'Gardener' here !!! We have been many times and thoroughly enjoy every visit and we get a real thrill when we are able to introduce Miaflora to friends who have never been before.More
