Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Travelling from Picton to Christchurch we stopped into the cellar door and restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch and taste wonderful wines. Was a sunny day however a covered marquee was available too. Excellent menu offerings.

A delightful setting, with lovely tree sheltering everyone from the cool north-easterly wind, friendly, helpful staff who gave our party of around 20 seniors from Diana Isaac Retirement Village a warm welcome. It's a pity that the food didn't measure up to everything else. My...frittata was almost cold and accompanied by a huge salad pile and a luke-warm lunch roll, for butter appeared only after asking for it. This was a set menu with three choices - soup and roll or fish and chips beside the frittata. No-one else in our party was overly excited by what they were served. There was a nice selection of wines available, all products of the winery. I had a rose, which was hardly memorable, but then, everyone has their own opinions about wine, don't they? It might have suited someone else's palate. The venue was very well patronised, so perhaps if one chose to select from the a la carte menu, one may have been better satisfied.More

What a shame!!!! Visited jan 9th. Here from Australia with my family who live in NZ and the cellar door really missed out on our business. Was not acknowledged when standing at the wine tasting area for close to 5 mins. The lady was so...engrossed in a chat with someone she did not even say hello. We hovered for close to 10mins looking at merchandise etc and not even a hello. Not sure if the staff or new or not in cellar door, we never found out ~ so we left. If I was the owner I would not be happy. Ladies working there: suggest smiling and as a minimum saying hello to visitors. Many of my friends own wineries and they have service nailed. Will not recommend. Defo visit Gravity in Mahana. Sensational service. Wow. Suggest a visit to learn how things are done the right way.More

We absolutely loved our visit to Waipara Springs Winery, it’s a beautiful setting. We had booked for lunch and a tasting- we arrived early and were welcomed without any problem. Plenty of shade on a sunny afternoon, delicious food and of course wine. The singer...was absolutely amazing- so talented and added to the atmosphere… Highly recommend you check out this winery if you’re in the area.More

We visited with our adult children and tasted wines before lunch. Our host was welcoming and knowledgeable, adapting the offerings for our tastes. The grounds were beautiful and relaxed. Our lunch of a platter and small plates topped off a memorable day.

First thing was a steinlagar beer was ordered, waitress finally arrived with a beer, no mention they don't stock steinlagar so not given the chance to choice something else. Ordered fillet steak, interesting way of serving, 2...very thin slices of luke warm steak and veges, was med rare, not medium which I ordered. Lovely spot to taste some Waipara wines and have lunch on way from Blenheim to Christchurch. Learnt a lot about Waipara wines from Kate and had a relaxing lunch before hitting the road again. The crispy skin salmon was beautifully cooked. The place filled up...quickly and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals.More
