Had lunch there today with a neighbor. He had the Angus burger while I had the Seafood Chowder. A reasonable chowder although rather heavy on mussel and surimi. I don’t regard surimi as seafood. Could have done with a bit more genuine seafood. I got...almost through the dish and then came across a human hair, about 9-12 inches long. Went inside to complain the staff member just said sorry so asked if the boss was there. He came over and also apologized saying it should not happen and offered a replacement which I declined as I had almost finished the original. At that stage no offer of refund or compensation. As we were leaving my friend went to boys room and I waited by reception for him. We were about to leave when the boss came over and offered a $10 voucher to use on future occasion. He explained he could not understand how this had occurred as all the cooks had short hair and wore nets over their hair. Both of us had seen a long blond haired guy in the kitchen with no hair covering whatsoever. So I had a meal with a significant hair in it , was lied to by the person in charge and had a token gesture voucher that I will probably never go back and use. The chowder was $19 and the least I would have expected was a full refund of that amount. Unfortunately the meals had to be paid for at time of ordering. Disappointing from a restaurant that probably does good food. The customer service/damage control was a disaster.More

Wow! First time here and what an experience! For the crowds here ,we thought we would wait a while but were told it wouldn't be long and they were right. A table of 12 were eating in 25 minutes at the same time and all...the food was cooked to perfection from salmon to steak! Jess, our waitress was attentive and she absolutely made our night! Will definitely be back again xxMore

Poor atmosphere. Acoustics abonimable. Food average Kiwi fare. If you like a very noisy large portion low quality experience then you may like this. Otherwise not for someone looking for quality quisine with a relaxing ambience.

Whilst the atmosphere and staff were welcoming and helpful , unfortunately our lunches were average. Chicken snitzel was very overcooked, 2/3rds of it inedible. Fish and chips were okay. Not much fish in the battered piece I received. Chips were nice and the salad was...delicious. I was surprised noone followed up our polite comment about the overcooked snitzel when she cleared our plates. 2/3 of the snitzel was remaining. I have eaten here a few times and have always been pleasantly surprised. Maybe an off day for the chefs?More

Such a nice place and friendly staff. Kids loved their chicken nuggets and chips. They have an awesome seafood chowder. We were disapointed with their ribs and the roast, specifically the sauce/gravy. The sauce on the ribs tasted exactly the same as the gravy over...the roast. Put me off a wee bit. It would be nice if they had a play area for the kids. It is stil worth going to this placeMore

We were happily inviting our friends to share a meal at this restaurant. Booking and confirmation was a piece of cake, simple and straightforward. when arrived we were introduced to our host (waitress) for the evening and she had a nice sense of humor. drinks...are good and affordable. meal ordered and put on the table within no time. very well cooked, big portions, (like American size) not rushed but well prepared. afterwards we decided to go for desert, what was expected a small sundae was a large jar filled with ice and an splurge of sauce, chocolate, caramel or strawberry. each our own choice. for us it was a great evening, we spend less than 200 dollars fofr meal, drinks and desert. well spent money and happy to go for an other meal.More

Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. A real shame that the decent food and lovely wait staff are let down by a duty manager and his side kick who have next to no customer service skills. Unfortunately had an issue towards the end of our...meal in which the duty manager made no effort to come up with an appropriate solution given the inconvenience to all and lack of fault on our parties side, the issue being cause by just incompetence on the duty managers part and lack of personability. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this place now and won’t be back.More

On sunday night our group of 10 went to Five Stags for dinner, the service was excellent and the enviroment was welcoming, our group all chose different meals from the menu, I chose the Orange Roughy battered with salad and chips. My fish was overcooked...but short of burnt, I should have sent it back but ate it instead. The rest of the group seemed happy with their meals and I may have been the unlucky one. This being the unlucky one also happened on my previous visit in February, I ordered Chicken Schnitzel which arrived overcooked and nearly burnt. I put the experience down an early evening bookings and to being in a group, and arriving on a public holiday weekend.More
