We went to the Plough today for lunch on our friends' recommendation. We ordered our meals and the waitress warned us that they could be a while due to the large group who had platters being made, and that was fine with us. Our food...came out in good time and we enjoyed it; pretty standard pub fare. We then ordered coffees but after about twenty minutes were informed that they had run out of coffee beans (at lunchtime on a Saturday!) so we couldn't have them. We thought it was a bit odd but were fine with that - until we were then charged for them! They were removed from the bill, but only because we looked at it before we paid. The kids enjoyed the awesome playground (though the smokers' area is right next to it) and their meals were generous.More

We came as a group of family and friends - 8 of us altogether, with one child who has a severe allergy to dairy. Thank you to your waitress who was so helpful and it was no trouble as all to remove cheese and mayo...etc from his meal. You had one happy kid as so often there isnt much he can have. All our other meals were of a high standard, and service is always good.More

Delicious meal and great staff! Turned up on a busy public holiday with a group of 6 and no booking, no problem! Staff were cheerful, good sense of humour and happily seated us at a table. An excellent wide ranging menu and the food was...delicious and generously portioned! I will 100% be back and can’t wait!More

Braised lamb shanks, vegetables in season - can't wait to return for another of these meals. Please put lamb shanks on the permanent menu. They were so-o-o good. Staff are always so welcoming, nothing is a problem. They treated us as if we were the...only ones in the pub, even though it was full.More

Went to The Plough mid-week for lunch. This is a spacious but old-school tavern in Rangiora. Excellent well priced menu options and great sized portions. Very good beer options and a reasonable wine list. Brilliant friendly service. Free parking at the door.More

We were made to feel like locals, the hotel is a great place to stop. Really feels like a home away from home with a nice big dining room, bar and beer garden. There’s plenty of car parking around the hotel. Special mention must be...made of the bar and wait staff, they were really nice and friendly.More

Was so impressed with the venue, table setting, service of wait & bar and really good meals as we were in a large group (30 plus) that had pre-booked.
