Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not a great first visit! Call to check before you go.
We went here for lunch during our return from Mount Cook village, after reading several good reviews.
We were disappointed. The menu was extremely limited- see photo. Even worse, my extra hot chocolate was not even hot.
Other than the cabinet food (spinach and feta quiche) the only vegetarian items were potato wedges and fries.
I hope they get over their problems soon and back to normalcy.

Cute little cafe next to the road and helicopter landing area on the way to Mount Cook village. Serves a range of sweet treats, savouries and small meals. Lots of people waiting for helicopter flights use it (it’s also part of a holiday park). Great views of the mountain range from the rear patio.

Lovely view, friendly staff and simple but tasty food. Seeing the size of the carpark they obviously are used to catering for a lot more people. We were very glad to have such a nice place to stop and eat on our way back from Mt Cook

We told the waitress that some people at the table next to us didn’t speak English and were looking for some water. Her response was “there’s water at the front if they want it”
Made no attempt to go out of her way. Hospitality people that treat our tourists really annoy me. They are vital to keeping business’s such as this alive. Stupid girl probably doesn’t realise that.

After a huge walk, this cafe was a treat. Coffee was hot, and our sweet treats welcoming and needed. Just a good stopping point and somewhere to get a helicopter flight if desired.

Outstanding fish and chips! Food was actually better than anywhere else we ate near Mt Cook, and at FRACTION of cost! Friendly service as well.

Burnt coffee and a dry muffin from days before were given to us after a ridiculous 20 minutes of waiting with one customer ahead of us, and we were severely ripped off $17! A small brown paper bag for a dry muffin should not cost an extra $1 for takeaway, 20-50 cents would be more appropriate. Also, almond and soy milk 80 cents extra? Really?! Sorry our lactose intolerance is such an inconvenience for you. Avoid this place, it ruined our morning completely, we threw it all out in the trash on our way to another cafe.

We were in Aoroki for two days and there are limited options there. We thought of trying Tasman cafe and to our surprise it was amazing. We ordered Latte, Burger and soup of the day and all of it was amazing. My wife liked it so much that she asked the restaurant people for the recipe😀. Also the views were amazing and with sun shining in winter it was a perfect location to have lunch. Much better than the options we have in mount cook village. It is open till 3PM only though.

Someone else has already said it. It's all about the views. Great setting and lovely service but the food is very ordinary. In fact I could get a better pie at the supermarket. The coffee was very good. No problems parking either. We knew if we had lunch further on at the village we would struggle to find a park. Will come again as the location is perfect for a motorcycle stop. We went to the Tasman Glacier Lake Lookout afterwards.

This place is all about the views! The food is okay, but the view and atmosphere makes it an excellent pit stop on the way to the Hooker Valley Track! Here you can see people taking the helicopter tours so do expect some noise from the choppers!

We stopped here for a quick meal enroute to our hike at Mt Cook. Although we arrived in the early afternoon, they were unfortunately understaffed that day so we could only pick from a limited menu. The food was just OK but we really wanted to give a shout-out to the amazing staff at the Tasman Delta cafe. Since their cafe tables were all being occupied by boisterous, non-paying customers/tour groups from a certain country (which shall remain unnamed but we can probably all guess!!) brazenly eating food they packed themselves, the cafe staff was kind enough to show us to a private closed-off section of the cafe so we could enjoy our meal in peace. Major kudos to the staff for that- such a simple gesture really made our day. We really appreciate it! (Quick suggestion: perhaps putting up a sign on each table that says something along the lines of “Tables reserved only for cafe customers” might help... that way you have the right to politely ask those who are just hogging your tables and consuming their own outside food to leave!)
