The old Mountaineer's café and bar is in a lovely location with great views of Mount Cook and Mount Sefton. It can get busy so it's best to book if time is an issue. The waitresses were efficient. We ordered rib-eye steak,- huge and delicious and the gourmet lamb pie,- very tasty and filling. We enjoyed our reasonable priced dinner.

Had the salmon pizza and sausage burgers which were OK. Pizza is quite large but probably more cheesy rather than the flavours of salmon. Service is not bad. Can get very busy

Whether it be coffees, lunch, or dinner, this was our eating spot while we were in Mt. Cook. Great staff, wonderful food and a relaxed atmosphere to hang out and enjoy the mountains. Be sure to visit this cafe and share stories with the staff!

We love this place. The food is amazing, the views of Mt Cook simply spectacular and they serve the best gourmet vegetarian pizza ever (in my opinion). We're definitely coming back in the summer.

A perfect day for a solo 400km ride to visit here. Not that busy in the cafe. Perfect weather to view the mountains. Very basic food for me today. A bowl of wedges with sour cream and aioli sauce washed down with my usual mocha. Served in a glass which I'm not that fond of. Lunch finishes at 2.30 and... More

Glad you enjoyed our spot. What a ride! If you're in for a mocha again, ask for it in a cup; happy to do that. More

This cafe is a really good option for lunch or dinner. They also had vegetarian options and were also happy to accommodate when needed. They can get quite busy so service gets a bit slow. For dinner kitchen closes by 7.30 pm keep that in mind.

Easy five minute walk from The Hermitage Hotel. I had a burger and chips, and my wife had the gluten-free smoked salmon salad; both were average at best, but the bill was $55 (NZD). Would not particularly recommend given that there are better options at the hotel (in my opinion).

The organic meat in the burger, the artisan bread that made up your hamburger bun, the atmosphere and the upbeat warmth and soul that greets you immediately you arrive at our place you will not find anywhere else in the village. If you had any complaints, would have been happy to help at the time. Not sure what your point... More

We both enjoyed the sausages - not normally what I order when dining out but so glad I did. They were delicious and I ate all 3. This is good pub grub and the place was humming. We booked ahead. So glad we did there were people being turned away. Definitely a great spot to eat with spectacular views.
