Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ate here Nov 2023 on our final night of over 3 weeks of touring NZ. We chose the Dubliner as it looked like a cosy little, friendly restaurant and had pre viewed the menu online. So I was particularly looking forward to my Murphys stout...pie. Imagine our disappointment when on entering the place at just past 8pm, we were told "sorry as its so quiet we are only doing pizzas!" We stayed and the pizzas were ok (as pizzas go) but they were actually closing up around us. This meant it felt rushed when actually, we were looking forward to a pint and a glass of wine in front of the fire after a warming dinner on our final night before departing from Christchurch the next day. Instead, we were back in our camper before 9:30pm. I'm sure it's very nice when it bothers to stay open but in this case? I've had to mark it distinctly average.More

If You're looking for food in Methven, this is the place to go. Steak, chicken mains were delicious. Kids had homemade pizza which was great and the crumbed chicken was delicious (not packet crap like you often get) Chocolate brownie was perfect.

Not a bad pub. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Wanted some hearty meals on a cold night. Food was average. Ordered the lamb stew and it was more of a watery soup rather than a stew. No pride in the meals. Disappointing and overpriced.

The Dubliner is our favourite place to eat in Methven. We just keep coming back, The food is wonderful and the service is always excellent. One thing that really impressed me on our most recent visit was how the Dubliner's staff dealt with a group...of fourteen or so guests that had a booking but were intoxicated on arrival It's never an easy task to handle situations like this but the staff exhibited utmost professionalism and care. They approached the group discreetly and respectfully; competently assessing the situation and determining the best course of action. Rather than resorting to confrontation or making a scene, the staff tactfully and skillfully guided the intoxicated guests out of the restaurant. The tables were quickly rearranged and the dining area filled up quickly (which is hardly surprising given how popular the place is). Well done crew. You rescued the evening and ensured that the remaining patrons had a wonderful time. Looking forward to dining again at the Dubliner next week.More

The night was cold but the atmosphere in The Dubliner was so very warm and the staff and service was first rate. It was great to hear a real Irish accent in an Irish pub in NZ, The meal was great and the service very...prompt. The desert was to die for. This would be best meal out I've had for some time and next time we are in the area we will be calling again, They say its the best Irish pub in NZ and if there was one better it wouldn't be real.More

Quirky Irish humour, tastefully displayed, in this warm, friendly Irish pub. The staff are attentive and quick to recognize when to offer a refill or assistance. Great, healthy, filling meals. The locals are very lucky people. I hope the realize this
