We had a lovely meal at Shackleton's Bar & Grill. The staff were friendly and attentive (special thanks to Martina & Mia), the range of food and drinks available was extensive, with many local ingredients and suppliers. The atmosphere was nice, with a fire to keep the restaurant warm in the cool winter months. We were sorry we didn't have room for dessert, as the options sounded delicious! Will hopefully be back again someday soon to try them.

One of the highlights of the year is the Winter return of the Methven Ski Season favourite - Shackleton’s at Brinkley! We had some of last year’s standards as they were awesome then, however they have taken the dishes to another level. The Seafood Chowder was fabulous, more creamy and more seafood. The Beef Cheek Parpadelle was more meaty and mushroomy - just brilliant both dishes and would definitely recommend!

The current menu at Shackletons is amazing. We dined mid-week and thoroughly enjoyed our chosen meal - the Aranchini Balls and Lamb dish were superb. Everything about our experience was top class, a friendly and attentive waitress welcomed us and made us feel ‘at home’. Our chosen meal was absolutely divine, the attention to detail from the Chef was just the best - a “must go to place” when wanting to dine out in Methven.

Wow!
Entrees were amazing…. the sirloin with the butter sauce was to die for (highly suggest adding the green veggie side) and the shiraz by the glass was magnificent. A flickering open fire was as warm as the welcoming staff. Not hard to see why this restaurant has won so many awards.
The perfect experience after a day of hard skiing…

Shackletons never disappoints. Our meal last night was superb, can thoroughly recommend the lamb rump which was divine and partner really enjoyed his Flintstone Ribeye Steak - both beautifully presented. The truffle aranchini comes highly recommended too, together with the tasty tomato ‘soup of the day’. We consider ourselves very lucky to have this fabulous restaurant on our doorstep. Compliments to the Chef and the front of house staff.

Absolutely incredible, definitely be back soon! Beautiful lighting, food was all so high quality and tasty and the plating was extremely impressive. Staff was very switched on and attentive. (Definitely recommend the lamb rump)

Beautiful food, a must visit when coming to Methven. Vegan and Gluten free menu options. Chef came out to greet us ( from Argentina ) which was a really nice touch. We had beef cheek pasta which was best pasta I have had in a real long time. Others had lamb rump and Pork empanadas. Great flavors from Argentina throughout the menu. You wont be disappointed. Serving staff really friendly.

Delicious food, warm welcoming atmosophere. Great varied menu of both food and beverages. Little bar too if just wanting a drink and a nice view. Can even watch the bar tv from the spa!

Shackleton’s can always be relied on for a great experience! Staff and atmosphere are brilliant, the hosts friendly and entertaining. Had the pea soup, which is the first year it has been on the menu - please leave there permanently!! It was a delight to the eyes and a fabulous meal in itself - the sausages and pulled pork a great twist on traditional ham and pea soup. Shame I don’t do the food photography thing as it could have easily fitted into a high quality cooking book. Stunning 🤩

Honestly, we went to ski time on Friday, lovely ambiance, good service and couldn't complain about anything, even complimented Jimmy the chief, but Brinkley is head and shoulders better, food to literally die for the flavours are just so deep and enjoyable. Brilliant service and superb ambiance, as well as a spa if you want too. 10 out of 10

A wonderful family meal for the family.
