First time I have ever been in this café, it will for sure not be the last, when in that area.
The coffee is very hot and so when you reach the last of what's in your cup, it's not cold, hard to find a place that serves hot coffee like this.
I had a Panini for lunch. I did not expect that to be as hot as it was. Was not over done on the bacon, the egg yolk was very yellow. Was delicious. Although the cafe was not overly busy, the wait for my meal was very short.
The Cafe was bright and very, very clean.
The staff were absolutely lovely, very friendly, took the time to ask me if everything was ok with my meal. They were all bright and cheerful.
Topp Country Cafe is very much worth it's weight in gold. Thanks ladies.

A very warm, honest, welcoming on a chilly day. Loved the cafe's atmosphere! Each of the staff were engaging and sincere, going above and beyond to ensure everyone's requests were met, and then some. Every aspect of the service, food and beverages sampled were outstanding. We dined as two combined families, including children of varying ages for brunch with tables to cater to any gathering size. We'll most definately return to dine here again when we're back in the area. A good selection of both menu and cabinet food available, the coffee was perfect. Thank you ever so much!

Recently in Methven for the first time in many years, stopped at Topp Country Cafe for lunch on a Sunday. Cafe was busy (always a good sign), with a small menu to go with cabinet food. Food was good, reasonably priced, and friendly service. Good coffee too. Recommended.

We went out for a birthday lunch which was a disaster. The food was awful..the spinich, corn and bacon soup that tasted like peas, was cold. Regular toast with that for $12 was expensive. The best bit about the burger was the chips. The cabinet food looked massed produced and not that appetizing, so did not order any of that.
The decor is dreadful. Maybe a visit to Jan's at Mayfield could help. Where were the tractors,chooks,dogs,cows and horses theme that you are well known for?
The whole place was dirty and yesterdays ash was on the hearth by the log burner which was not going even though it is winter. The towel hanging on a hook on the end of the bench was filthy. The cutlery is in containers on each table. As we are in the middle of a covid virus pandenic this is not good.
We were vey disappointed. Come on Topp Twins you can do better. We expected something funky with great country food. As the locals are being encouraged to support local businesses we would have throught we would have been made welcome into a sparkilng clean, warm, cafe with yummy food.

Nice coffee and hot drinks.
Food is ok, a little basic.
No vegan options.
Big breakfast is very standard, needs improvement for $22
It has alot going for it, just need to move with the times.

Dissapointed,
I ordered the big breakfast, which consisted of 2 fried eggs, hashbrown 1 piece of off standard toast and some over cooked bacon, it was dry.
No relish or sauce in sight.
I feel it was expensive at $26 , considering I go out to have better quality food than I could make myself at home

Very welcoming, food was yummy, coffees and hot chocolates brilliant. Very accommodating to those with food allergies. Lovely caring staff. Nice environment, very clean. Great experience.
Should have found this on day 1 not day 3. Don’t make the mistake we made and went to Primo (yuk). Go to Topp Country Cafe 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I'd make the commute from Auckland and back just for the coconut milk lattes. And the donut things with jam and cream. And the Topp breakfast. And the eggs benny... And most of all the friendly owners & chef. We managed to squeeze in two visits during our short time in Methven and it still wasn't enough. Yum!

Stopped in for a hot drink and bite to eat while visiting Methven. Great, friendly service. Reasonably good choice of cabinet food with several gluten free choices. Nothing was displayed as gluten free but just need to ask. Seems very popular with the locals as quite busy, but still managed a fairly quick service. Will definitely visit again if in the area.

Called in for brunch on our way from Christchurch to Twizel. Lovely cafe, great atmosphere, excellent coffee, friendly staff, the spring breakfast and the eggs Benedict are superb. We even got to see one of the Topp Twins. Highly recommended.

A lovely friendly place. Had a lovely breakfast on a Sunday morning. Apparently the chef has a coeliac family member so really clued up.

A fantastic cafe serving a wide range of food and drinks for a reasonable price. Super friendly staff and a real community feel. So kind to offer the food deals for Mt Hutt staff upon the mountain’s closure. Would highly recommend a visit if you’re in/around Methven.
