Delicious food, family friendly - great addition to Methven dining options.

We had a fabulous family meal post skiing at Aqua - everything we had was tasty, great value and good portion sizes. The pork belly was sooo good! Even our fussy son tucked in despite only ordering plain rice 🍚. The owner was happy to oblige us only having mayo on half of each dish (to tempt fussy child), and was very friendly. Highly recommend! It’s a cute wee restaurant too.

Exceptionally friendly staff. Delicious Japanese food. Very cosy restaurant to stay warm in after a hard day of skiing. A great selection of Japanese beers. Definitely worth a visit.

Pleasant service and tasty kara-age!

This was a lovely little place - a real find ; a dinky little Japanese restaurant in Methven . We really liked thew klara-age. The chicken was really fresh and tasty while the coating was lip-smackingly good.

Charming owner, delightful food

Called in for takeaway after a day of skiing Mt Hutt. In business for 16 years, our meal was beautifully prepared, thoughtfully packaged and thoroughly delicious.

Would highly recommend Aqua restaurant. It’s a little tiny restaurant and felt very authentic. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Service was with a smile.

After read reviews we had great expectations. Its cute and cozy inside the lady who runs it is lovely but the food fell well short of what good japanese food should taste like. With such a limited menu they should be nailing it just have to question if the chef is qualified? Sake was luke warm not hot. Carpaccio was way to salted. The chicken fried rice was missing chicken and the Karaange was ok but must have a shortage of mayo. So we thought we would give it another go the sashimi was ok but didnt have much taste. The beef and rice was more onion than beef. The squid tentacles and chicken JFC were ok but had to ask again for mayo. Great that its a BYO as that keeps costs down. If you want good Japanese a drive to Lake Tepeko is where you find out what good Japanese food is all about.

Great food, great value.

A very small restaurant just near the Irish pub, and yes, you could almost believe you're in a japanese ski village restaurant. Staff very nice, food inexpensive and tasty, washed down with a Japanese cocktail and a Kirin.

A weekly treat. I love this place the food is inexpensive and just down right yummy. The service is top notch and the staff are always friendly and nothing is ever a problem. A very authentic Japanese tapas restaurant. If you are coming by Methven or staying you should go and have some dinner or lunch or even takeaways in the park.

A Little Gem From Japan

This is such a great little restaurant. Very cozy and you feel like you could be in a ski town in Japan. The food is always good and they do their best to take NZ basics available and turn out authentic Japanese cuisine. One of our favorites.
