Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped for a coffee and spent over an hour here! Lovely tastings of syrups, jams, spreads and lots of little condiments. Excellent place to load up on confectionary items. And finally, a really good cup of coffee. If you are en route Queenstown to...Christchurch, it’s definitely worth visiting. Perhaps even taking a detour for. Enjoy!More

We stopped by Barker's for lunch and I cannot say enough positive about our experience. We ordered the Barker's Tasting Platter which was the best charcuterie board I've ever had. The venison salami, made in-house, was so super tasty. They paired their own cheeses and...spreads with homemade crackers and breads. Condiments were readily available so we tasted all 12 of their jams and added some to our lunch. It's making my mouth happy writing this review.More

Stopped by for cabinet food and coffee this trip. Reasonable selection although I prefer their menu. Advantage of cabinet fare is you can help yourself to different servings of pickles, chutneys etc to enhance your fare. A great way to try before buying in the...shop area. A busy place but reasonably quick with delivery to table. Outdoor setting if you prefer.More

A very high quality coffee shop serving good coffee and scones. Perhaps a little more expensive than normal but worth it.

This used to be our favourite place to eat as a family but something has changed. The burger was raw mince inside, when I sent it back I mentioned to the staff member that eating raw méat could make someone really sick, and was told...it was 'made fresh this morning'. Fish and chips and salad used to be gréât also but they were over cooked and the side salad was a bit of a mess. Please go back to how you were!More

Barker’s bakery and food store was an amazing place to visit with family. The food store particularly stood out to me as it wasn’t like a regular store. They had tasting stations for each type of condiments, they had little plates with paddle pop sticks...to taste, you could bring them to your table and try them with your foods. They had a very smart business approach, you taste, you like it and you feel the need to buy it. The food was amazing, there were a lot of options for people who are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. The only downside was the wait for to the food, my family and I went during morning rush hour which is fair to believe it would have very busy but the wait for food even in the cabinet was 20-30 minutes.More

The products Barkers offer are absolutely top-notch, and we buy many of them. However, the food offered at the cafe was somewhat disappointing. There always seems to be a 30-minute wait for anything off the Menu, so we opted for cabinet food. The vege frittata...was absolutely tasteless, apart from the Barkers chutney slathered on top, and the stack of corn fritters was the same. Our friends' quiche slices were much the same, and not heated through. Sorry, but can't recommend.More

Stopped in at Barkers today for a coffee and a light bight to eat. The coffee was good and you could gets sweets, pies, sausage rolls or a cooked meal. A big place with their name brand products for sale. Worth a visit.

I ordered the loaded wedges terrible.. it said on the menu how lovely the bacon was, it was like a tough old boot that had been cooked twice then cut into cubes. The other meal I ordered was going 2 be $5 for one egg...( you can buy a whole box of eggs for $8-10.) It was also horrible. Won't be going back again.More

Very dissappointed that Barkers charged $1 extra for a takeaway cup and also another $1 for a small paper bag for takeaways. They claim this is happenning elsewhere ...it is not.
