My cousin and I went there lastnight to order dinner for our families. We walked in, it was quite packed and saw families eating pizza which looked real good so decided to order a couple of pizzas each (takeaway) for our families. Before we order,...the barman informs us there will be a 45min wait…no problem. We order 2 pizzas each which total $36, $18 each…algood. We go back an hour later and my cousins 2 pizzas are cooked, but mine ain’t (I ordered before her) the barman informs me that mine are on their way. We take a peek at her pizzas (that are in a regular/large pizza box) and they’re the SIZE OF THE SMALL PIZZAS YOU GET FROM PIZZA HUT or THE SMALL INDIVIDUAL LEANING TOWER PIZZAS!!! We ordered with the intentions the pizzas were going to be regular/large sized pizzas as that’s what we had witnessed families eating prior to ordering. The menu only has one size, one price - $18.00. I asked him “excuse me but the size of that pizza is ridiculous, it’s a small pizza for starters and it cost us $18!!” His reply “yeah sorry but we ran out of the normal size bases so we’ve added extra topping” I then proceeded with “well you need to communicate with the kitchen and give customers a heads up before ordering cos we’ve already waited for an hour, there’s no extra topping on there and it’s probably worth $5, not even $10” he says “you won’t find any other place around here for a pizza that cost $10! I can give you $6 back or a full refund” because we waited over an hour ALREADY we decided to take the $6 back, keep the pizzas, whilst still waiting for mine. I asked “excuse me but when will my pizzas be ready?” He then tells me “oh they’re going in the oven now” AFTER WE’VE ALREADY BEEN WAITING FOR 10MINS NOT INCLUDING THE HOUR WE WERE ALREADY INITIALLY WAITING FOR! We wait an extra 10MINS until my pizzas are finally ready. We leave to walk outside to show our families the pizzas…7 adults, 2 kids. We come to the conclusion this will DEFINITELY NOT feed our families so take the pizzas back and ask for a full refund. I tell him to check the pizzas, they have not been touched at all and demand we get a full refund! The barman hands me $30 and snarky comments “cos remember I gave you $6 back” I then tell him “well remember we ordered FOUR pizzas!” He throws the other $30 over the bar and we proceed to walk out. I’m IMMENSELY DISAPPOINTED as we waited for an HOUR AND A HALF all up for 4 small pizzas and just plain negligence! While we were waiting for the last 15mins….other dining customers had also gone up to the bar to complain about waiting time, changing their eat-in to takeaway etc… I myself have worked as a waitress AND cook in a couple of bars/restaurants and I know it’s not easy when it’s busy BUT you have to communicate with kitchen staff to keep on top of what you have and what you haven’t because once you try skip corners it never works out! I don’t blame kitchen staff…I blame the barman that took my order and who I was dealing with lastnight as it was just pure negligence and naivety!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! They would’ve had to have won the best record for NZ’s SMALLEST PIZZAS FOR $18!!!!More

We visited here in Dec 2019 after just completing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. It's a sports bar so quite noisy but good atmosphere. The beer was good and the meals, big and tasty, just what we needed. So good, we went there our second night...in town also.More

Nice pub atmosphere, with quiz night as a bonus!! Good service. The brisket meal was beautifully cooked--melt in the mouth tender.

We were on the move on this occasion so only wanted a quick snack lunch. The staff were on the ball. Our chips were delicious (and hot) and the beer was fine. This is a favourite place coming through Turangi and judging by what others...around us were eating it looks like the standards are being well maintained.More

Had a fish and chips meal one night. Fish was terrible, tasted like cardboard. Staff appeared disinterested. Attended on New Years Eve. DJ supposed to be playing but could not get music system up and running by 9.15pm. Cover charge in place but for what??!
