Dined here twice last week, excellent food, service, and ambience. Had the lamb and pork belly, both were beautifully cooked and served. The wine list showcases some great NZ vino, and beer menu includes Garage Project. Dined here often when it was the River Vineyard, and I applaud Andrew and Liliana's efforts in resurrecting this venue and serving quality kai. A welcome addition to Turangi dining. Looking forward to my next fishing trip to dine here again.

Two of us ate at the Hare and Copper last Sunday. We had the Granola (with stewed plums, yogurn and honey) and Eggs Florentine, with coffees (flat white and long black). Loved the hash browns, homemade, crispy on the outside. The food and coffee was extremely good. The restaurant was sunny, and overall a great start to the day. Can't wait to return for dinner. Very clean, with friendly and professional staff.

I wasn’t expecting much when I was invited to join my friend here with the comment “menu looks pretty good (for Turangi!)” Not only is the menu great, but the food was exceptional without exception. We chose to share small plates so we could try as much as possible. It was a struggle to decide what our favourite dish was, with each of us going back for more of each of the dishes. The dumplings, salt and pepper squid and soft shell crab were all excellent, but the popcorn chicken was the dish that stole my heart. We were lucky enough to get the last churros, which was a generous portion (possibly because it was the last) and was happily shared amongst the five of us. We would have loved to have both chocolate and dulce de leche dipping sauces as we love both, and had heaps of chocolate left at the end. A half portion of each sauce would have made this dish 100% perfect. That is our only complaint and after a fantastic evening with fantastic food and company a minor and one at that. Would highly recommend Hare & Copper to anyone who wants a relaxed atmosphere with delicious food. Would love to go back on a sunny afternoon to dine outside, sounds like perfection to me!

We had a delightful meal that we could not fault. The choice for sharing plates (entree) is extensive and the mains cover all options. The waiting staff are attentive, happy and helpful. The drinks menu is adequate and reasonably priced. If you are fishing the lake or skiing the mountain this restaurant is the place for brunch or dinner.

We popped in to the Hare and Copper for an impromptu lunch and what a wonderful lunch it was Arrived without a booking. A table was quickly set and soon we were seated in the light n airly dining space with gorgeous garden views. The service was outstanding and the food interesting and fresh. Menu consists of generous sharing plates with plenty of variety to choose from. Desert and coffee to finish a very memorable lunch experience. Highly recommend. We will definitely go again. Thanks 👍

Came here for dinner with a group of friends, the restaurant were serving their new sharing menu which seemed to be causing some issues/difficulties - the staff were doing an excellent job of explaining but every table was asking the same questions. We had steak, prawns, pork buns all of which was very good. The reason for the 3 star review is that the sharing idea doesn’t really work - the plates aren’t big enough for more than 2 people to share really, and are not big enough to have one as a main course to yourself. So solo diners beware - will be expensive to have 2 plates, or leave hungry. Disappointing also that very limited desserts available due to new menu being launched.

They lost our reservation that we made 3 months in advance in spite of me emailing to reconfirm the day before with an updated NZ phone#. They neither called or emailed me back. They provided a table after seeing their mistake, but we were seated by the washroom. Looking beyond that, the food was superior; absolutely delicious! A small to large plate sharing concept. Awesome food! The waitresses were young and not very experienced. They are all trying really hard and with a little more training and experience will be fine servers. Service was excellent at times, and falling down at others. Overall, we loved this restaurant in spite of some areas for improvement. Food is always #1 on the list of priorities for me…. this restaurant serves superior delicious food at very fair prices. A must go in my opinion, if you are in the Turangi area.

I was SO impressed with everything about the Hare and Copper. The relaxing atmosphere, the friendly service, and most of all the 10/10 food. Every dish we had was absolutely delicious, well balanced and creative. Little touches like the candied peanuts on the popcorn chicken added something special. Thanks so much for having us - we only wish we lived closer so we could come more often! We will be back whenever we are in this part of the country :)

That brand new place is the best restaurant we found so far in the whole Torangiro area. We had the green lipped mussels as appetizers - to die for! Our main dishes were the pork belly and - of course - the lamb. Both were perfectly prepared and I am myself very good in cooking a crusty pork belly at home. The lamb was equally good! Even the orange juice was first class! The service was equal to the top quality of the food. A really hidden gem!

Lamb rump and mushrooms dish with kumara gnocci was stunning. The parsnip puree that came with the chicken was exceptional. The wines were priced fairly (we had a Portugese red) . The service was friendly and professional. The Churros were light and in came in a very big portion. My wife and I had two lovely evening here and we will be back.

We went on their first week open and am so happy to have found this new addition to the dining scene in Turangi. The food was delicious - particularly loved the Salt & Pepper Squid which was elevated beyond what you normally get elsewhere, and the desserts. Definitely save space for the desserts when you come! We talked to other dinners and everyone else in the restaurant were also singing the praises about their meals. Can't wait to go back and to try more from across the whole menu.

Beautiful, warm and amazing food. The food is prefect to share. We had 4 “share” between a couple and kids menu and thoughtful and not just “chips”. The location is so inviting and warm (on a wet windy day. Wine menu, small but intentional. Will Be back every time we are down

Was taken here for a meal, beautiful setting and good service. The biggest disappointment was its a tapas restaurant, I don’t really like this style of eating when going out for dinner, it’s messy, disruptive and works out very expensive. The tapas were lovely but more suited to a snack with a drink.

Tapas style at a 'main' price. The Beef Cheek in a Yorkshire Pud (think vol au vent) tasted great but $30 for 3? Most items are of the same order. The food tasted good and was presented well but, I felt, it was overpriced. Service was fine - nothing stunning.

Positioned in the countryside north of Turangi, Hare & Copper is somewhere you could go with families and friends with children as it has plenty of outdoor space. It would be nice to see the area being better presented-lawns mown and outdoor games tidied. The menu has quite a good selection of sharing plates and mains, but there was something a little overpowering in several of the small plates’ salads and little meat in the crab dish. It might be best also to put your own Mayo on the burger so you can check the heat first. Friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere.
