Stopped for a quick bite on our way north. We didn’t want a big meal so settled on the toasted sandwiches. Mine was the ham and hubby had the smoked fish. There was plenty of filling but I just found mine was a bit overpowering...with the pickle. The cafe is the old railway station by the information centre and the Colin Meads statue.More
Had a bar snack here. It was delicious , crispy pork belly with apple slaw and a side of potato. Skins. The pork melted in your mouth. We ate on the platform which was very pleasant, a nice view of hills. Would definitely stop here...again. In fact we did 1 week later when returning through to northland.More
Fantastic restaurant to stop while travelling.
Had dinner, was excellent . Service great, atmosphere light and spacious and we would definitely go again. Everything was perfect.
Lamb shanks, ribs, warm lamb salad all excellent. Will come back.
We both really enjoyed our meals. We were passing through on a trip south but didn't want a fast food meal. The service was quick. Lovely staff. Had a beer. I had the best toasted sandwich ever.
We had a coffee to go with the...softest yummiest brownie on the way. Perfect for what we wanted. We'll be back.More
We had visited this remarkable restaurant two years ago when we visited Te Kuiti. The meals that we chose were the same as we had two years ago. my husband had a creamy sauce on fettucine which he loved; I had the seafood chowder. It...was tasty and full of seafood but had been grossly overheated this time which was a disappointment.More
Stopped in for a quick bite and coffee. Was quite novel sitting outside close to the railway. The coffe was great! Ordered a large and it was massive. Enjoyed every bit of it. The fish bites were fantastic. I'm a fish person and it was...some of the best. Will definitely be back one day with the family.More
