I travel from Waihi to go to Minato Sushi , I highly recommend their Sushi - it is the best sushi, fresh, so many types of sushi to choose from and the staff are very hospitable, they will make up fresh sushi on the spot...if they havent got it out in the display shelves. I love that I can choose my own sushi, and they are huge and DEEEEEEEEElicious!!!!!! you must try Minato Sushi if you go to visit WHANGAMATA - it is soooo worth it - love it!!! Oh yes and very reasonably priced too.More

Sushi was pretty average and I object to being charged an extra 10c for ginger. Miso was OK. Not much choice.

I travel a lot, eat out too much, my favourite is Japanese. Now my favourite is here! Minato sushi is outstanding, I came in late, they made everything fresh & hot. The host was ever so friendly, showed me our the back to there quaint...garden area. Service-impeccable Cleanliness-very high standard Food-Devine They even offer for you to phone ahead with your order then pickup, nothing is too much trouble. I visit every 8 weeks, can’t wait to get back here. This is honestly the best sushi I have had, ThankyouMore

Really nice sushi and Japanese hot food. Will make fresh for you, and will make with brown rice. Pleasant place to sit and eat. Only open for lunch.

Dropped in just before they closed and the sushi was still being prepared on request. Great service, great product. Worth making a trip for.

I came here with my 3 year old and she said "yum yum yum" when I asked her opinion and I have to agree. Very good value and if in the area we'll be back again :)

I go here weekly and have never been disappointed, the sushi is fresh and made daily. Only a few flavors to select from but each one is made well and has plenty of flavor. Great service everytime

We were apprehensive of the food quality when we entered the ordinary looking shop. But as soon as those shushis went into the palate, we were extremely pleased how great they were. The seafood chowder was the great surprise of all, it was as good...as the ones we had in San Francisco ! Wow.... highly recommended.More

We come here regularly whenever we travel to Whangamata. My wife loves the Japanese chicken curry and I always have the seafood chowder. It's really good with lots of mussels, clams, shrimps, smoked fish and squid in a tasty broth. This place also has a good...selection of sushi. A couple can eat well here for under $20.00. HIghly recommendedMore
