Darling and I braved the elements for a (for us) late breakfast. Seating has always been a bit limited here and the weather ruling out the outside tables adds to this. Get here early to avoid the madness. The menu has something for everyone. Darling had the waffles with passion fruit curd and banana. She loved it. Mentioned that it is rare for the sauces and extras to last the whole meal like this dish did. I had the Turkish eggs. A light meal with a subtle hint of chilli. The yoghurt was yum and the eggs cooked just right. Coconut milk flat white was 9/10. Ask for a takeaway cup because the large is a little small. Only comment.... they are always going to struggle in such a compact site post COVID. No request to sign in, only saw the list on paying. Line for ordering takeaways and eat in payment was .5m not the recommended 2. Some lovely looking baking was at mouth height on top of the cabinet right where everyone was yacking waiting to pay. These should be covered. Great to have these lovelies back on deck. Took some cream and cinnamon donuts away with us for later. Will be back tomorrow for sure. 👍❤️

Enjoyed our quick lunch here. Kids shared waffles and they were not too sweet, a yum combination. The spaghetti simple but good and hubby enjoyed chick burger. The waffle fries a definite recommend, sauce they came with is different but really good. Would happily visit here again, customer service was on point too.

I chose the waffles with custard, cream and lightly poached apple and some cinnamon and syrup in there. Delicious. Great presentation, fast service, delicious faultless food. Oh yes and then to make sure we had enough carbs on board, we had a bit of doughnut with our coffee. Light textured, cream and jam filled, that is. Wickedly good. Coffee was good too.
We sat opposite the kitchen where a great, young, on to it team got food out quickly without compromising quality or presentation. They've got it down.
Highly recommended.
We're in Aotearoa NZ where there is no community transmission and we're on level 1 Covid alert so the questions below don't apply.

This little cafe is a little gem. Modern decor, friendly, helpful staff and the food is really, really good with an emphasis on being healthy. Can recommend the pasta dish of spaghetti in garlic, parsley pesto and the side salad, which slightly changes from one day to the next, was so tasteful on both days we visited. Excellent.

This was dinner during Xmas period. WOW what a choice. Took our son plus one who are both vegetarians gluten free. Fantastic fare. Home smoked lamb ribs melt in mouth. I had salmon salad great. Husband had pork loin- he loved it. Wild rice salad and gluten-free pizza bases!!

Loved breakfast here, refreshing to see innovative items on a breakfast menu. The Turkish Eggs and Gingerbread Waffles were excellent with interesting and flavourful combinations. Service and setting also very good. Will definitely be back.

Stopped here for lunch and had the pasta which with chilli, garlic, pesto and parmesan was very tasty, and a great price. It was a cold day and the back door was often left open which meant a cool breeze blew through onto us. Would go back and try other food there.

Innovative, tasty, plentiful - what else could you say about the delightful breakfast at Port Road Project. The potato pancake with salmon and poached egg was delicious and Pytti Panna - a Swedish version of bubble & squeak with chorizo, corned beef etc was something really special. Great team that own and work the place.

We love PRP! Mum and dad live in Whangamata and are pretty much daily visitors for their coffee and cake fix. We look forward to visiting when we come up every Christmas and this year has been no different. Super friendly and efficient staff, amazing food and drinks plus very reasonably priced for the quality of food served. Keep doing what you are doing guys.

But the above was probably because it was a very wet school holiday weekend. Service was efficient and I just loved the scrambled eggs I ordered. Very creamy and smooth.
Would be very interested in trying some of the menu options. A second visit will definitely be on my agenda.

We had lunch here today. On arrival they were very busy but managed to get a seat. We ordered drinks and lunch which all came out fairly quickly. The service was great. All very friendly. Our food was delicious . No complaints at all. We would certainly do the drive from Waihi Beach to Whangamatā again to have lunch here.

Wow! What an amazing find. Having never been to the area/country before this was my first meal out and I was very happy we came across this delightful restaurant. We drove here for the day to see our friend’s beach house and wandered into town to grab a bite to eat. I would travel across island to eat here again! This is a must experience in this beautiful surfers beach town of Whangamata! The service was fantastic and the people were helpful and friendly.

We called in here after walking our dog on the beach, what a lovely cafe. I had the Turkish egg, he had scrambled free range. The coffee and food are divine. So dog friendly. The staff and locals are really kind and we loved it.

Thought we were in for a great Brekky according to the reviews. But unfortunately no. Food was bland and coffee was average. Think they put all their energy into the cakes and slices.

This has become our favourite spot for great coffee. Staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome. Scones are superb along with a great breakfast menu.
