Great Spice will feature a cozy dining room and an elegant bar in a very warm and friendly place with excellent food. Comfortable furnishing and décor with soothing warm tones. Corked or screwed?!

We visited the great spice again, four of us, a very busy evening but the service was still good.On the whole the meals were very tasty, I had the lamb biriani as main which was very tasty. Started with a chicken Tandoori entree apparently a half that was not as good as I expected was a bit over done and dry. My wife had the whole lentil slow cooked which was apparently very tasty the other gentleman in our party had the great spice prawn dish which was also of excellent standard. The disappointment came with the so called "corkage" charge of $10 per bottle while recognizing there is a service charge for using the glasses which are on the table anyway I do feel it's a high charge to pay. The menu shown on the website is not a reflection of the actual prices when you go to the restaurant, when I questioned this I was told I must have looked at the take away prices, this was not the case but I couldn't be bothered to argue! All in all it is a great place to have a meal and if your senior gold card is presented there is a discount!

Delicious butter chicken

We usually get the butter chicken from either the Plaza or delivered from Papamoa East. Both stores are always great quality with lots of chicken. Very fast service, never any hassles. thank you and good to have you around!

Awesome lunch set

Love their chicken tikka masala. It comes with rice and naan, and a can of ice cold soda for just nzd 12 (take-away). Awesome quality at an Offord able price! Also visited it for dinner. Excellent service, and definitely got an upscale vibe to it. Would recommend for a business dinner, or a family outing alike. Keep it up!

Authentic Indian cuisine with a smile

Amazing food and faultless service. We ordered the usual but had to try the lemon honey chicken curry thinking it could be interesting and we are glad we did as we loved it. We could tell they used ingredients of a high quality and the portions were very generous as we were very full! The staff were lovely and attentive. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will be back.

Wonderful service and superb food

We had visited Great Spice in Papamoa East once before so during our most recent stay in Tauranga we drove 30 minutes to have dinner there again. It was well worth the drive. We decided to try the vegetarian platters and most loved the entrees, butter paneer, naan bread and melt in the mouth desserts. There was a large group of people celebrating a child’s birthday but they were still attentive and provided quick and friendly customer service. We’ll most definitely be back.

Mixed bag for service

We have been to this location twice now, first time (mid last year in between lockdowns) we could not fault it at all, fantastic food, fantastic service all for a decent price. We visited again recently on a visit to Papamoa, and the staff member who was looking after us most of the night was extremely helpful etc, but after mains came out, she disappeared and noone else approached our table from then on. After completing our mains we waited for someone to come and ask for our dessert orders (which was part of the meal we ordered), but noone approached us. Only after one of our party went and asked a staff member, did our order get taken - however the staff member could not answer any queries about the options offered, which was required as one of our party is diabetic, and another gluten free. The food was fantastic again, just the service that let us down majorly. Will we visit again ? Honestly do not know, probably just get takeaway......

Not only best Indian restaurant in Papamoa, best Indian in Bay of Plenty period.

Absolutely the best Indian restaurant in the Bay of Plenty. First and foremost, the staff are genuine and sincere and deserve to be commended first. The food is just sensational. Everything you want in an Indian restaurant and more. Flavours across every meal. Helpful and knowledgeable staff minion never have to ask to have a glass topped up. I would put the culinary experience up against any Indian restaurant in the country, right up there with the likes of Gorkha in Eastern Beach in Auckland. A great night out and you won't be dissapointed.

Well we are from Auckland and we constantly have loved Indian food for decades. Paradise and Ravis are pretty good, plus a couple others around sandrngham rd. We stumbled upon Great Spice Papamoa whilst in BOP. This place is levels above any other Indian food we have ever tasted, not to mention the fantastic wait staff, some of the friendliest people around. If you come to BOP please try this place, this Indian food and service will blow your mind!!! Cheers Jason and Jana

Amazing dinner with my children. The atmosphere was inviting, the food delicious and the service superb. Will definitely be back again. The Naan bread was light, chewy and crispy all in one; beautiful chicken meals with plenty of sauce to mop up - yum.

Fab Indian Restaurant

Me and my husband had been there last werk for dinner. No doubt food was great and very attentive staff. We ordered Royal no vege platter for starters then we had Goat curry and patiyala chicken with garlic naan.We highly recommended this restaurant. No doubt it’s worth to try.

love this place, the food and staff are amazing 100% recommend a visit. Our young children are quite fussy eaters but they also really enjoy the dine in children's menu. Dad loves a large tiger beer. Win win 🙌

Usual high standard of food and service

Excellent food as usual, happy to substitute a dish, delivery was earlier than stated and we couldn't even eat half of it - looking forward to a yummy dinner tomorrow. Great service, couldn't have been more helpful or friendly, and the food was delicious. We had the $45 family meal and everything was perfect.

Tikka in Saag Clothing

Chicken Saag is my go to dish at most Indian Restaurants so am very familiar with how it is cooked and presented. However last night was a whole new experience. I was served red chicken with the saag sauce. When I queried this with the waitress/waiter I was told that it was CHICKEN TIKKA with a saag sauce and that if I had wanted the white chicken meat version I should have ordered the "dairy free" version. WTF! (This was NOT offered as an option on ordering). We had an early reservation as we were going to a movie so the offer of having the dish remade was rejected. Obviously they had an excess of Tikka and thought they could get away with passing it off in another dish. Not very professional.

Had a lovely time dining here. Staff were exceptionally inviting, and we felt both welcome and cared for. Food was prepared very quickly and tasted fantastic. Would recommend the prawn Malabari and chicken Vindaloo.

Wonderful Indian Meals

Great food and friendly staff. The entree’s were so good, we forgot to take photos of the mains. My wife and I had the Garlic Tandoori Chicken and also the Prawns for entree’s which were both fantastic. For mains we had the Goan Fish curry (one of the best fish curry’s I’ve ever had) and the Balti Chicken. Both were large portions and full of flavour. Based on the taste and value for money, we’d definitely return. The only improvement area would be the lighting. We were seated next to a wall quite far from any downlighting and it make it quite dark.
