Arrived after a 7 hour drive from Wellington so looking to relax with some nice food and drinks. The place was extremely busy but found a table under a tree . Local beers were great, sons burger and fries and milkshakes awesome. Wife’s wine spot...on. Our two Vietnamese salads got lost in the orders. Quiet word and all sorted and no charge. You know things happen but when it’s obvious that the customer experience is foremost in these peoples focus then you appreciate great service. We’ll be backMore

As locals we have seen this place change over the years. The current owner has also made alot of changes over the past year or so and the most recent being the best so far. Before lockdown the food was a fried sloppy mess..... My...husband and I would frequent The Island as its wood fired pizzas were to die for (and its kids free/R18) nice when you need some time away from the children. We turned up on Thursday night as our usual , some food and beer /cider tried the new baked camembert with confit garlic, honey and woodford bread. OMG best thing iv put in my mouth in quiet some time 😉 so good we came back the next night to the main restaurant as we brought the kids, had more delicious food. My husbands chicken burger and daughters loaded fries, epic! Even the onion rings, before they were average as, now.... crispy deliciousness cooked to perfection. Hate to say it but those plastic red bowls need to go, you have done such a great job with the menu and that for me was the only thing that I thought..... meh. So nice to see the menu refined, I hear you have a new chef in.... so a big thumbs up to him. Definitely will be a regular weekly for us 👍🙌More

A great spot for a drink and a bite to eat. Great indoor/outdoor setup with different food trucks and a big area for the kids to play while you relax with a drink

Pap Tav had a great space set up for us for our girls 5th birthday. They were super easy to plan with, very accomodating to decorations & our large group. Fully fenced & neat playground for kids. Highly recommend.

What a discovery, dropped in for a pre dinner beer and decided to stay for dinner. Lovely dip to share as a starter then one of the best pizzas we've ever had. The topping included Pumpkin, blue cheese, pine nuts and other delicious ingredients. They...brew a number of lovely beers on the premises. Friendly staff giving great advice.More

My family and I frequent the papamoa tavern, we've found the food to be very reliable and well priced, my personal fav would have to be the fish and chips or the cheeseburger. It has a fantastic outdoor area for all to enjoy, including the...kids. They have daily specials which also encourage a family outing whilst also saving a bit of money.More

Between 4-5 stars. Service was fast, ordered only deep fried food but was very tasty. Sauces complimented the chicken well. Pink panther spider was top (apparently) and the local cider is quite nice. Lovely shade on the hot days. Waitresses are quick to clear to...keep the seagulls at a minimum. Well done!More

Great family atmosphere and suitable for young kids to join with family. The food is very mixed - burgers were poor and tasteless, chicken piece were tasty and salads looked OK. Would recommend you don’t buy the burger. Definitely low pub standard of food -...such a pity as if standard was better overall it would be great place.More

Went to the Pap Tav for a family Birthday dinner. We have been here before and it was great, which is why the 9 year old Birthday boy asked specifically to go here. We arrived to it being super busy, as it always is, made...our choices and went up to order. One of our party ordered a pizza which is made in the place next door, another got a milkshake. These 2 items were ready in about 15 minutes or so. As time went on and people were leaving, and the children were starting to get really hungry, we started to wonder how much longer. When we went to ask - an hour after we had ordered - we were told 15 minutes!! By the time we got our food we were the only people there. Were we forgotten? That's what we think. Pretty poor really!!! Aside from the slowest meal ever the food was good, but we wouldn't rush back again.More

☹️ Not a great experience staff were ok but food was terrible which is a pity as I had heard good things. Won’t be going back in a hurry
