Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We've always like this restaurant and the staff are always charming and helpful, the wine list reasonable and the food generally very good. Have to say our lunch recently was a little underwhelming. Nothing fundamenatally wrong just that we had higher expectations based on the...past. Wife's chicken liver salad ok but a bit over cooked on the livers, that's just careless. My moules catalan came with good flavours and sauce but many of the moules were 'homeless' ie no moule! and at least half a dozen were firmly shut so left me feeling a bit miffed! The main : Low temp cooked veal with mash and veg...hmm the meat tender no problem, I've had better mash and the speciality tart au citron was good as always. So, overall ok but not as good as it has been. Would we return? Maybe....More

Hotel Restaurant du Centre et du Lauragais is a hotel-restaurant located in the center of Castelnaudary, a town in the South of France and it is known for Canal du Midí (a water channel) and for the Cassoulet de Castelnaudary (a typical French dish). We...came here to lunch with the family and I ate a Cassoulet of Castelnaudary as main dish, which was excellent and a red wine, which was also fantastic. Also I ate a strawberry cake and a coffe with ice. Also, my 6 years old daughter ate salmon with frittes and a panacota cake with strawberries, all very good. The restaurant is very comfortable, really a place to relax during some hours speaking with friends or the couple. For me the best restaurant in town. Not standard food but something special. Very fresh. Great service. So we are here for the second evening in a row. Great.

So over this why do they serve up food that is dreadful I don’t understand. The wedges if you held them up they would have fallen they were also burnt. The steak was tough as well medium rare isn’t suppose to be tough. On the...bright side my husband has scollops and he said they were okay. But not a great experience for a rather high priced mealMore

We've been coming here on and off now for the past 5 years whenever in Castelnaudary and rarely disappointed. The service and welcome has always been helpful, charming and warm. The ambience inside or out is always pleasant and the food generally very consistent. The...house tarte au citron is truly excellent. We had a great meal this week again, though I confess the razor clams and pelourdes entree were a little 'gritty' and could have been purged better, and also this normallu warm to hot dish was cool at best... maybe an off night but with only 3 tables it should have been better. We really like this place and will still keep coming back.More

We've eaten here many times, never had a bad experience. The set lunch menu is excellent value, don't be put off if the dishes would not be your first choice, be adventurous! The other menus are very good, lovely ambience, service generally good.

We came here after a recommendation from a friend. Very good! The staff were welcoming and found a table quickly for us. The food choice on the 29 Euro menu was good and very tasty. The presentation and quality of food was outstanding. We will...certainly be back .More

I reviewed this place back in May 2018 and had rave reviews then, returning again in July for both a lunch and a dinner both were exceptionally good. Service is prompt polite and helpful from the young but well trained team. The décor eating inside...is quietly chic o if outside on the street-side terrace calm and tranquil. The food, I have to say is consistently excellent and we have been coming here on and off since 2013, more recently more and more frequently as we work our way through the varied menu. Wine selection is good and very reasonably priced - hard to find fault, love this place and find it hard to try other venues in town as it's so good. Decide for yourself though!More

Visited with friends while on trip down the canal du Midi. Didn’t book but easily accommodated 6 on an outside table. As with previous reviews the razor clams were a hit and the cassoulet is a substantial sized portion so maybe miss the starter or...share. Reasonable price: 25 Euro a head including wine.More

Would suggest making a reservation as this place seems busy with a largely English speaking clientele. The food was very good and the service friendly.

Had some great lunches here last year and returned for lunch and also a dinner inside this April. All round really good, can't find fault here - the razor clams and pelourdes en persille are always delicious, the house cassoulet as good as anywhere around...and a recent lunch with slow cooked veal was simply excellent. Service has always been charming, helpful and courteous. The wine list has something for most tastes and pretty well all budgets. The inside ambience on a wet and windy spring day was charming. We'll return again, this place is consistently solid and should rank higher on T/A.More

We came for the cassoulet and loved it. The sausage in the cassoulet was so tender. We had a large group, and appreciated the attention and accommodations the staff gave us.

Recommended by foodie friends we came for lunch, liked it so much we returned the next day as well. Excellent starter with razor clams and pelourdes in persillade, just divine. We also tried the prawn / avocado stack very nice too. Mains over the two...lunches were the kidneys which were excellent, duck confit and the house cassoulet which was very good and predictably filling. Sorry to read others had a poor service experience here as our waitresses were friendly, helpful and courteous at all times. The wine list was good and moderately priced. Would return here anytime. Value pretty fair.More
