Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped by for lunch after going past it with our boat. Liked the look and feel of it right next to the canal, with the kitchen being on a boat itself. Friendly and English speaking staff, pretty good selection of food and wine. Certainly...one of the better ones in the area.More

Excellent friendly welcome. They provided water for my dog unasked wich is always a good sign. Chicken burger (basically a whole breaded fillet) arrived quickly with magnificent chips that had clearly been just fried by someone who knows their business. The garnish included Grana Padano...that was the base layer thus melting unctuously into the fillet.More

This is a nice place along the famous Canal de Midi. The food is bistro-proof. A menu with enough variety (adults/kids).

Found this place while just wandering through Castelnaudry looking for a lunch spot before heading to Carcassonne Airport. It’s like eating on a canal boat, but it’s on the bank. The service was very friendly (and they all had excellent English). We were a party...of 3 adults and 3 kids. I had cassoulet which was glorious but too much food for one human. Others had the chicken and regular burgers which were excellent as were the frites. The kids had saucisse frites from the kids menu (also included ice cream and a sirop). Moderately priced and definitely good value. I would have happily stayed a while for lazy afternoon drinks too if we’d had time. Really great place.More

Lovely location by the side of the canal: a covered area with seating a metre or two from the water. We arrived early (so hungry after riding 40 miles) - it quickly filled up and was popular with families. Service was good / about standard....We were hoping for a little more choice than the mainly meat dish menu: a lady at the Tourisme had told us it was a seafood place.More

Went there for dinner and arrived a few moments before they opened. Nice welcome from the waitress and had our choice of seats......on the high seats/ table by the river. Simple menu - food well cooked - all served promptly and with a smile. The...place filled up very quickly indeed and I got the sense that as the numbers built up, so did the pressure on the kitchen (very small area in the barge) and the staff. Bit of a Marmite place (love it or hate it) - we loved it and thoroughly enjoyed our meal in the early evening sun.More

No reservations possible. Arrived to be seated in the sun, no shade. When asked if we could move to shaded area we were refused. Ordered drinks and then food. Wanted to order three burgers and two other meals. NO burgers available. The rdeted a portion...of chips for one who didn't like anything else on menu and they added 3.50 cover charge!!! Chips were 3.90 for a portion. They were greasy and disgusting. My filet mignon was good but sauce was congealed. The mixed grill which was ordered as " rare" was well done. Cassoulet was not the best, little meat and watery. Coffee, ice cream and beer for one person all arrived at same time. A tourist trap and not cheap! Waitress was curt. Other waitress fell over. Waiter serving drinks was friendly. Don't bother. Maison du cassoulet much better.More

We were at the end of our boat trip, having navigated 18 locks before arriving in Castelnaudary and tying up about 100m from the restaurant. There may be better resto's in the town, but this one was convenient, the staff were extremely friendly, and I...had a great hamburger!!!More

It was our last night on the Canal and we didn't know where to go to celebrate ! a walk along the canalside and we found this - really friendly staff and superb food. One of the best salads I have ever had and we...were not at all surprised that the place filled up quickly on both occasions - locals as well as tourists which is always good ! The next day we went for lunch - again really tasty with good service .More

We chose this restaurant because of its location on the quai. We were not disappointed as the different burgers we all had could have been called 'gourmet'!

Open on Sunday, no reservation. Atentive friendly staff found us good seating. Service good. Food good. The prawns were tasty and delicious and the burgers were succulent. I have rarely seen salads that more deserved the word gigantic outside the USA. Location, right next to...the canal was exceptional.More

We were spoilt as earlier in the day we ate at one of the local eateries off the beaten track and it was amazing in every way. We chose to have dinner here as it is right on the canal so the location is great...and it was our last night so we thought it would be perfect. It was only ok - not great but also not the worst place we ate at on our 7 day barging trip. The cassoulet was lacking in comparison to the one we had enjoyed earlier in the day and the desserts weren't great. Perhaps choose a spot off the beaten track rather.More

A calm summer night, good company, choosing a restaurant on the port, we took our seats at Brasserie la Cybele soon to be squeezed in so our disabled friend could not even get out from around the table. The gambas were not so fresh -...the persillade sauce was full of prawn feelers and tasted like prawn heads, the rice was heavy and tasteless. My friends opted for the filet mignon de porc but found their fries were frozen fries, not fresh, the onion confiture was chunky and unpleasant, the salads were under-dressed with over ripe tasteless squares of tomato tossed in. Asking for salt and pepper, more water, more dressing met with delays and then our plates were not cleared. The staff were like cafe servers, no frills. A horrible experience and for €15 one could do a lot better. It's one solid attribute is being on the water's edge but the place is like a cafe.More

One of 3 or4 other restaurants on this street, it is theonly one right on the Canal rather than across the street. It was too hot for us to eat cassoulet, the unavoidable specialty of Castelnaudary, so we just had salads which were ok. The...cassouets dishes looked just too huge butr smelled divine!More
