I entered Spice Junction due to their good reviews and was happy. This restaurant has style. I believe they also do takeaways, but their tables are nice, napkins are real, served dishes are designed by final touches from the chef. Of course the food was very tasty as well.

Friendly venue, tasty food. Pleased to find it included goat curry and that requesting a mild chilli did not resut in no flavour - other spices were intact. Only disappointment was that my glass of Gewurtraminer wine was stale - that bottle probably open too long?

I'm not a stranger to Indian food, and i felt that this place really lacked an edge. I felt the complimentary popadom was stale (not really crisp and left a somewhat bitter after taste). I had the Saag paneer, which was not horrible but the ratio of gravy to cottage cheese, heavily favoured the gravy. Indian food when its good can blow your socks off, but this mean left my socks at knee height.

Service was second to none and the meal was perfect. Also the duty manager, Gurleen Kaur, was great with a great sense of humour to match our own especially my husbands'. We don't live in Whakatane as we have moved around the country a bit but it is our go to Indian restaurant when we are in Whakatane visiting family.

Since Spice Junction has opened, me and my family and friends frequent this lovely restaurant at least once a week and sometimes more xxxx We also have deliveries when we can't make it. The whole experience is just fantastic and what a lovely family and staff. The food is fantastic, never had a bad dish. We would definitely recommend. xxx

I lived in malaysia for more than 20 years so had my fair share of Malay, Chinese, and Indian cuisine (both north and South India).
So I was pleasantly surprised at how good our dinner was. I had Malai kofta, the others were, chicken tikka Masala, prawn malabari, and lamb afgani. Excellent. The cheese and garlic naan was also noteworthy. Highly recommended here.

We ordered the buffet for 2, $35 each. Poppadoms tasted as if cooked in old oil, and out of a packet. Starter was delicious but then let down by main meals: small portions, with little meat (veg dish had freezer veg!!) and watered down sauce with little flavour. Service: although staff we very friendly it was very slow and disorganised. Overall not very good value for money!

Awesome vegetarian and vegan options- amazing food. We’ve moved to this area and have this place a try. We’re really impressed with the selection of offerings and the quality of the meals- top class. Will definitely be back.

Was very excited when I entered this restaurant to recognise the owner from an Indian restaurant in New Plymouth that we used regularly. They had moved to Whakatane five years previously.
I hoped for a fabulous experience and was not disappointed.
The food was outstanding, so flavoursome and delicious.
Service was exceptional.
No criticism at all.
A fantastic experience, if you like Indian food you must try this restaurant, I wish you were in Auckland.

Wow! Absolutely beautiful fresh food. Such good value for money, Spice Junction in Whakatane never fails to please. They will even deliver to local addresses. Great staff, great food, on time, every time. Happy to recommend

Had a lovely meal, everything was delicious - perfect amount of spice and portion sizes. A great wine list. Kids loved it. Great service and good value. As tourists it's always good to find a restaurant that you would want to go to again - if we come back to Whakatane we'll be back!

Our dinner was outstanding and beautifully presented. A lovely restaurant, with a wide selection to choose from. Truly delicious...... the dish was called 3 idiots. Highly recommend this place; we shall be back.

I had never seen this kind of standard in other Indian restaurant . Very tidy restaurant and staff were in good discipline and dishes were delicious and good presentable . Specially the girls working in the restaurant are good in job knowledge . Feeling homely atmosphere away from home . Definitely recommend to my friends

I won't call it even near to Indian food. What a terrible food joint on prime location. Went on Friday night with friends, craving for Indian food. Sweet and sugary food. I call it Indian dessert food.Not cheap food
