The pub was 50% full at dinner time but the staff were very flustered. The younger staff were keeping the service up in comparison to the others. A coke took longer than the food. Food was average, not living up to its name.
Food options sounded nice.
My partner ordered a roast vege salad and I order the pork loin.
Her meal was basically 10 tonnes of iceberg lettuce with salad dressing, enough to sink the Titanic.
Mine, was pretty much a ‘Pams out of the box’ piece...of meat, with some instant potato mash. Oh, served on top of some microwaved broccoli.
The chef came out behind the bar and stared at us whilst taking our first bite of the meal.
Staff were running around behind the bar and continuously staring at us which was bit random.
I do feel sorry for them though, kind of like they’ve been thrown in the deep end...
The previous reviews make it sound better than it actually is.
My beer was nice though.
If you want some 5 star dining, I’d suggest McDonalds a few km down the road.More
The shrimp cocktail was watery, the Cobb schnitzel small and with the taste of it being not as fresh as it should be and the salad drenched in dressing. The lemon tart for dessert was okay, but the X-rated traffic light (with vodka) Was surprisingly...good. Overpriced for what was received - not surprised the restaurant was mostly empty.More
Average shrimp cocktail
But main of crumbed schnitzel was like eating a small cardboard box covered in crumbs with some cheese inside
Schnitzel was folded into a pillow shape and was very dry and unappetizing nothing like crumbed schnitzel used to be
Salad...okay very small and chips soggy
For 30 dollars poor showing
Dessert sticky date was actually brownie so had to be replaced
Service good but food very poor
Steer clear better choices aroundMore
The garlic bread was nice, but that was it, the meals were very blah, I had the Cobb Schnitzle - it was no better than a supermarket boxed meal. There appeared to be only 1 female toilet, there was a child in there when I...needed to go, she was in there for at least 10 minutes (not blaming the child), but having another toilet would have been handy. Service was nothing exceptional either. For $29.00 for the Schnitzle, I would have expected better. It came with chips and a salad.More
Just had dinner with my partner to celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent and the food was beautiful. Highly recommend the garlic bread with cheese, coach burger, chocolate thick shake, garlic prawns and ribs to all! Will definitely be coming back. We didn't make...it to dessert lol as we ate too much, but I'm sure we would have enjoyed it just as much.More
So today me and my bf went to cobb & co whakatane for dinner, yes we're both young adults but from the minute we walked in we were watched they seated us where they could keep an easy eye on us, we felt very uncomfortable...trying to enjoy our dinner but the staff kept watching us and disturbing us, they would come up and ask how the meal was when they could clearly see we hadn't even started eating, we have been to the rotorua and tauranga cobb & co's and have never been treated this way before, we wont be going to the Whakatane one again.More
