A nice welcome and good selection of drinks on offer (Guinness of course, but alas no Kilkenny on draft). Nice to sit outside in the sun. Menu looked good and reasonable prices

Monday 28th December just on 12 noon. Crap service, asked for a menu told we'd have to wait for another customer to finish using theirs despite not being close to full. Ordered a couple of drinks, went to order only to be told , sorry...no chicken, despite being only just on lunchtime . Went to consult wife on alternative, to be informed her glass was dirty. Staff did not seem to care about the service or their job's right from the moment we arrived. Owners of the business might as well shut the doors permanently.More
Saturday lunch was to be a treat for my husband and myself as we have frequented and enjoyed this restaurant over the years. However, undercooked chicken nibbles with red meat on the bone has put me off this restaurant in future. My meal also, scallops...and bacon salad would have been nice had the scallops not been undercooked in the centre and only lukewarm. A disappointing experience when it used to be so great in the past years. More staff than customers inside, around the bar and kitchen and quite noisy shouting out their hello’s, talking and laughing. Smokers around the two entrances so you were breathing it in when reading the menu.More
Nice place for a pint. Cute little snugs or booths. Typical Pub rather than bar. Warm and cosy. TV for Sports. Good location.
well, a glimpse from the first floor balcony. Not a bad pub with a pleasant pavement area and happy hour for a reasonable chardonnay. Whakatane has failed miserably in taking advantage of its waterfront with no bars or restaurants. Where there is they are ground...floor with a high wall facing the water. The only exception seems to be The Top Shelf but it's only open for functions. So for a peep, come to The Craic on the balcony. Possibly.More
Yes, a great place to stop over after checking out the shops on the main street of Whakatane. The Guinness stout was just great.
The Craic Hotel has a good atmosphere and on both occasions we visited was busy. The beers are good and the staff are friendly
Took the family here for a late lunch. The food was good pub grub, fresh and tasty. My wife and I shared the seafood platter and that satisfied us.
Stopped here for a drink after travelling all day, lovely sunny aspect on pavement out front. Lots of seating, good pint of Guinness and only $8 if I remember correctly. This place wasn’t expensive at all considering it could readily capture all the customers in...the middle of town. Offers food and has proper snug tables inside, friendly service and quick.More
Friendly staff, Great service. Pub food was really good and a great price. Recommend the Pizza Certainly would be back.
