Been once before and the food was great but it would appear that it’s actually permanently closed. Been in Coromandel for 5 days and not open and it’s peak season. Same issue last peak season. They need to update their website to “permanently closed”

Shared a 1kg plate of mussels - they were plump and huge and soooo tasty! Washed down with a lovely Rose ... pleasant garden setting

Our friends decided we needed an outing from Whitianga so we decided to go to the Driving Creek Railway in Coromandel and where better to have lunch. The Mussel Pots are to die for. I asked and received Parmesan Cheese on top as well. In...all you get 1kilo of mussels and that turned out to be 23 mussels for me in white wine, cream and garlic. There are other options for the mussel pots as well. The others in the group had, pots, fish and chips and mussel chowders. There were no complaints. Set in a rural setting not to far out of town. Well worth the gastronomic visit.More

Loved this place! We both had a mussel-pot here, one with a Thai sauce and one with a wine-sauce: both delicious and very generous portions. Great outdoor seating area, and lovely glass of wine! Wished this restaurant was close to home!

We love New Zealand seafood (Kai moana) so this was a real treat to have some locally grown fresh mussels. Great indoor outdoor setting in a country atmosphere if you love mussels - I recommend this place! Licensed with a good NZ wine list.

We always like to come back here. Beautiful garden, delicious food, fantastic atmosphere. The only snag is the crazy opening hours; realy guys - you should do something about it :)

We visited for lunch. The menu is very good. The mussel pots were very good. The staff were very poor on both engaging with clients & public relationships. Disappointing in terms of the owner & his staff but the mussels were worthwhile. Beware as minimal...bead offered with the mussel pots & requesting more was met with rude questioning as to why and that we would need to go to the counter to pay. We were happy to pay but not during our meal. Recommended as a 50/50 option. Check out the town as well.More

My partner and I stopped here on our way through to Whitianga...we’d been told about this little place and OMG...the best Mussel Chowder ever! Seriously the food was just beautiful and the staff are just delightful, happy and friendly! Do not drive past without stopping...in this little hidden treasure...can’t wait to come back guys 👍More

You cannot go up to the Coromandel without a visit to the Muscle Kitchen! We have visited several times and they never fail to deliver. The setting is tranquil, with beautiful hibiscus plants in the garden. There is ample seating both inside and out as...well as a large car park. The muscles were enjoyed, served in several different ways. The Affagato for dessert was good, very good.More

Loved the garlic crumbed muscles and lemonade brewed on site. Lovely setting, good service, plenty of parking and a wrecked muscle fishing boat 👍😊

yes I do seem to remember someone mentioning that it closes for a time in winter. Not sure from when to when, sorry! Perhaps they've left a sign in their window? ??
