Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Had the blt and mushroom bruschettas (shared); amazing layered flavours. We have dined in very expensive restaurants and this was up there with the best of them, only difference: this was only $20 a head! Top notch ingredients and combinations. The chef is commendable. A rare hidden gem.

Quality lunch at Koru cafe at Rapauru gardens. Fine soups, excellent fish, and (if you have any room) delicious cakes. Refinement and fresh taste define all Sacha’s cooking (and we know, we keep going back for more!).

First stop on our road trip and we couldn't have chosen a better spot. The staff are attentive without being pushy. The food was great - the beer-bread was excellent. A very relaxing location - the walks around the gardens and to the waterfalls definitely add to the experience, revealing more about the character of the owners.

We really enjoyed our outing to the Rapaura Water Gardens. Apart from the delightful wander through the gardens, our morning tea, and later lunch at Koru was excellent. Everything from the food, to the service and surroundings was outstanding. We would highly recommend a visit here.

We called here as driving by and so glad we did, the first time we had a cheese and chutney toasted sandwich and this turned out to be gourmet, seeded bread, excellent cheese, chutney and a beautifully dressed salad. We returned the next day for lunch as it was so good. Our lunch was delightful, a muse bouche of pumpkin soup was so deep in flavour. Our mains of lamb with potatoes and per puree were such high quality. Chef so friendly and all staff very helpful and kind. Such a lovely place. We also had a takeaway the day before, a chocolate nut cake and it was devine.

We had such a great day out on Monday. Working up an appetite at Mahara Scupture Gardens was a good idea. Our lunch at Rapaura Water Gardens was superb. I loved the prize winning lamb dish, the best I have had for a long time. And I know my daughter really enjoyed her Coromandel mussels. It was so lovely to catch up with Sacha and Sally after so long. I am very impressed with what they have achieved.
It was such a lovely way to reconnect with the Coromandel Ranges. Our day out on the Tapu Coroglen Road gave us a real taste of the old Coromandel we know and loved so much. The cafe has such a relaxed feel to it but I know how much hard work it is to create that atmosphere. Am definitely recommending it to my friends. And I can’t wait to visit again. Staying in the accommodation must be a wonderful experience. Surrounded by such lovely gardens and water lily ponds.

This is a rather interesting place. It's a few miles off the main road, down a narrow winding road. Seems at the outset that it might barely be worth the trouble.
Instead, you're greeted with a restaurant that serves amazing food and, as an added benefit, two amazing gardens and a nice waterfall at the end of the walk. The gardens were worthwhile on their own but the food made the trip especially worthwhile.

We enjoyed beautiful scones with gorgeous boysenberry jam and thick New Zealand cream. The scone was huge, the coffee delicious with a lovely thick creamy froth. Very enjoyable. The chef was very helpful and gave us great advice for the rest of our holiday . Worth driving here just for the scones and coffee. The gardens are amazing. The whole place had a wonderful atmosphere and peaceful ambience .

We have found this hidden gem and we were really impressed with the food here. The flavours were absolutely great and we enjoyed the place. We ordered the flounder and the open steak sandwich. Everything was cooked to perfection. Do not miss it if you are in the area.

Looking for a place to hold your wedding ceremony and reception on the Coromandel Peninsula? Go no further than Koru and the Rapaura Water Gardens. Sacha and Sally are great hosts. They've won awards for their food for years. And they provide a relaxed, friendly, family atmosphere that is sure to please.
