To be completely honest, Blue Lake was not our first choice. Our hotel's restaurant decided not to open that night (Peppers Bluewater resort - Don't recommend) and we were forced to find somewhere else to eat at 8pm. The two restaurant recommendations the hotel gave us decided to close early that night as well, so the only option left open was Blue Lake.
And that turned out to be quite lucky because Blue Lake was great.
My partner and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the service was first rate being friendly, fast and efficient. The wood-fired pizza and burger was great, the mozzarella & pesto garlic bread was absolutely delicious and overall we were really impressed at the effort made by the Blue lake team to be great hosts.
Thoroughly recommended.

Had a really good meal here whilst staying in Lake Takepo. The atmosphere is very relaxed and the quality of the food took us a bit by surprise. The Gazpacho and fish and chips were both excellent and the pricing of the food and wine was very reasonable. Note, though, closes pretty early, they were turning people away at 9.

We can not fault this place. We called in the day before for a drink and the barman was fantastic. Very informative about the craft beers and the beer tasting platter was great along with fries for $25.
We decided to return the following evening and again the barman (apogies for forgetting your name) with the beard was brilliant. Very informative and had great drink knowledge.
We then ate at the restaurant and had the shared plater for$70. WOW amazing... struggled to find a meal that I have had better. The salmon was fantastic, the duck and potatoes mash outstanding and the brisket burger amazing. Add the delicious salad and it was overall an amazing meal. Highly recommend and can't wait to return.

Nice surroundings but strange slightly tasteless food. $30 for a very small piece of Salmon on red rice with a red sauce. Extra for fries salad or veges.
The wait staff were friendly but the minute the kitchen closed a waitress lay down on a form near our table on her phone making it very obvious we should go. No offers of desert if they even have any. There were a good 15 people left in the restaurant and bar and the toilets were tidied up and in total darkness as well as the outside lights.
The message was hurry up and get out and it was 9.30 pm.
We bought lots of food and spent well on alcohol but the staff could not wait for us to go.

This seems to be a popular restaurant in Tekapo, and we dined on what seemed like a busy night (a Wednesday). We were greeted and shown to our table by one lady. Our drinks orders were taken by a second lady, and the meal orders and service was attended to by a third person (so much for Covid level 2 protocols !). Anyway, drinks and meals arrived reasonably promptly. The food was fairly average, considering the prices, and the drinks were expensive ($14.50 for a glass of Pinot). When we had finished our wine and the mains, we sat for ages with staff prioritising the clearing of tables rather than checking whether we wanted more drinks or dessert. In summary - merely 'OK', and expensive for what it is.

We had a reservation at 7.30 and were seated promptly. From then we waited almost 15 minutes before flagging down a waitress to take our order. Despite the waitress clearing and setting tables in our area she never came to our table until we went out of our way to get her attention.
It was obvious that several tables in our area who were seated shortly after us encountered similar difficulties with initial service, either ordering at the bar or having to flag down a waitress.
Our food didn’t take too long to come out, about 15 minutes after ordering and was quite good, the smoked wings being the highlight.
However, some of the other tables were not so fortunate. Over the course of our meal we noticed two tables walk out before their food arrived because the service was so slow. Another table was leaving as their pizza arrived and they had to get it to takeaway.
There was an overall lack of attentiveness from the wait staff during the course of our meal. The only time someone came to check in on us was when they cleared our empty starter plates. Outside of that, we were never asked how the food was or if we needed anything.
When we got up to leave we could see the waitress that took our order out back doing dishes, so it’s possible there was an unexpected short staffing issue. If this was the case it would have been nice to be informed when we were seated.
Overall we were left with a disappointing experience due to the particularly poor service. Which was a shame because the food was very enjoyable.

Extortionate pricing which poor quality does not match. The staff that served us this night were extremely rude, very unhelpful and had a really poor attitude. The food and alcohol is extremely over priced and the quality of it was average. Went here with my partner to celebrate my 30th birthday and it was such a disappointing evening. Definitely do not recommend this place and suggest finding another restaurant in town. I feel bad leaving a poor review, and I don't usually like doing so, but was just so shocked by how incredibly rude the young Irish or Scottish lady was who served us and felt extremely ripped off this evening and strongly regretted our decision to dine here.

We ordered a pizza and the chicken wings to takeaway, being told it would take about 15mins. To fill in the time we went for a walk and came back expecting it to be ready. When we enquired we were told it would be another 10mins - which just left us feeling like they forgot our order. We then asked if we could sit at a table, which was fine until a lady very rudely told us we had to move. The pizza was very average and the wings were burnt and flavorless. Do not recommend.

Beautiful food. We ordered the lamb shoulder ratatouille and the pork belly. Food came out within 20 mins of ordering and was cooked wonderfully. Lovely taste and nothing too overpowering. Will be back again when calling through Tekapo.

This is a lovely place for dinner. However. Make sure to make reservations as they seem to be booked most nights. Fortunately our host B&B made them for us
We had the pizza and beef ribs for entrees. Both were outstanding. The dessert was one of the prettiest I’ve seen and the most delicious.

Very tasty veg food at lake Tekapo is like oasis in desert.
The salads especially avocado mousse & house smoked feta and in desert dulce de delce with details in attached menu were very tasty.We reached at 5.30 pm so could not order the mains.Highly recommended for veggies.The service was fast & staff more than polite .

Tekapo can be extremely busy and we considered ourselves lucky when - arriving without dinner reservation - a young lady showed us to a table in the bar section. The menu was limited but sufficiently varied. We ordered garlic bread as a starter and pan-fried fish as a mains, nicely presented and tasty and accompanied by a bottle of Pinot Noir. Regrettably we had no room left for dessert which looked so tempting on our neighbours' table...  Â

I had made a reservation for my husband's 40th for a group of us, including 9 children..for dinner and drinks to start off our weekend in tekapo
From the first time I spoke to Lindsay on the phone until the moment we left the restaurant Lindsay and her staff were not just amazing but accommodated all our needs, which couldn't of been an easy task, this restaurant and bar which not only has amazing food and staff, Also has
an ambiance that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in the door..
I would highly recommend that if you are ever in Tekapo that you pop in either for a meal or just a drink or two.

The Chef here has completely ruined my chances of ever enjoying another salmon dish.
The Chefs Salmon and Black Rice dish was amazing! I've never had better.
The wait staff were terrific as well.

Went to Blue Lake for a special occasion dinner as the menu looked really inviting. Unfortunately the menu with its fancy ingredients and price tag did not live up to expectations and totally underdelivered. The 'smoked' flavour on the wings and pizza meat did not taste right (burnt and unpleasant) and when mentioned to staff we found in particular the wings inedible the item was taken away. However upon payment we were expected to pay for it regardless. The other menu items were lack lusture and would not recommend and wished we had spent money at some other deserving eatery.
