I have visited this place often in the last few years. Always been very happy with the food and service especially the lamb rack perfectly cooked pink meat..as it should be. Tonight ordered the same dish. It was braised not recently cooked and not how...lamb rake should be. Mentioned this to the staff who said they would talk to the chef. Good oh let me know when you might get back to how lamb rake is meant to be cooked. Until then...laterMore

We were staying 10 mins walk away at an Airbnb in Pioneer Drive. Looked like there's plenty of parking available close by if you were driving. I had a delicious steak on stonegrill brought to the table for you to cook to your preference 👍🏼...and hubby had yummy salmon in a brioche bun. The salad was quite heavy on the balsamic dressing and not as many green leaves as I usually like (ie a personal preference) but it was crisp & fresh. We treated ourselves to some local rose wine from Rockburn Central Otago estate which slipped down very nicely with our meal. We were seated at the window which gave us a fabulous view over Lake Tekapo. Service was attentive - we were well looked after. Would deffo go back if we were in the area again.More

$16 for a WARM HEINEKIN. ABSURD. Interesting to read that someone else had the same problem re the warm beer and they have not addressed this issue. The food is very average for an above average price. Its really just thrown together with no thought....Salad consisted of chopped up cabbage with some cheap nasty dressing just chucked on top. I would not return.More

Shocking meal. Definitely changed since visiting prior to COVID. Extremely small meal for $50. Side vegs non existent. One word disgraceful. And the cats (ferrel looking counted 19 on deck ) the restaurant feeds them. Jumping on tables . Surely doc would not appreciate this....Along with health and safety.More

Overall, our visit to the restaurant was exceptional. The combination of Waris’s outstanding service and the delicious food made it an experience we won’t soon forget. We’ll definitely be returning and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a family-friendly dining option that doesn’t...compromise on quality or service.More

On our trip to Tekapo, we made sure we visit this place as it is mostly raved. We are vegetarian but we still found few vegetarian options which we enjoyed for easter dinner. However, when it comes to service, I'm not sure if they were...not in good mood at that time (one-off) or that is really how they treat people. We arrived quite early, so we went around the area first then we came back by 5PM. Their dinner starts at 5PM. When we arrived (area next to the gift shop), A guy (Guy #1) who was clearing up the tables wasn't noticing us. We then asked if they are now open for dinner and he said, you go inside. When we went inside, a lady (Lady #1) just come out and we can have dinner. She told us to walk to the counter near front gate and gave handed us over to another guy (Guy #2) on cash counter which seems busy and wasn't noticing us. Since it is our first time, we had to ask him "do we order from here?" He then only realised we were standing there waiting for him, he said "No. You can take the menu and have a sit". We took the menu and finally found a table outdoor and sat down after almost 10 minutes. At this point, people started coming in, but they were being attended to properly. We decided which food and drinks to order immediately, there was no attendant outside, so we decided to stand up and go to inside to order..but when Guy #2 saw us walking with menu on hand, we were asked to sit back down and they will take our order from our table. A minute after, a Lady #1 came to ask our order. We then realised, since most people are sitting inside, maybe it will be harder to get their attention, so I stood up, went inside again and asked if we can move inside, Lady #1 told me to talk to the man in main front door instead. An indian guy (Guy #3) in the front door was nice and approachable (which gave me a sense of relief). He gave us a table inside but it is only available for almost 2 hours...which is fine for us. We didn't want to stay long at this restaurant anymore. As I come back to our outdoor table to tell my husband that we found a table inside, Guy #1 just served our drinks. I told him we are moving inside. He said "That is reserved." I said, "oh, the man said it was fine. He gave it to us." He smirkingly said "he did?!", which made me feel offended. We then went ahead to sit at our table inside, then food came after few minutes. With ruined mood, the whole fiasco made me feel less hungry, so we took few bites then we took away the rest of the food instead.More

We had a meal here and had beers and other drinks. The meal was ok, but drinks and beer were cool, but not cold. We went back the next day and same result, cool, but not cold beer. I’ve never been to anywhere else in...NZ where beer (and other drinks ) is not cold. I complained the next time to tell them that their cooler needs to be turned down to ensure drinks are cold. I got the feeling that as I was not from Tekapo, they would do nothing and save money by keeping their coolers near room temperature.More

The place is well placed: if you can have a table in the back, you will have a nice view on the lake qnd the surrounding mountains Service was nice and efficient But the meals are really too fat and hard to digest. We had...a few different meals, and they were all too fat from oil, or cream or mayonnaise. For the burger, the meat was hardly de-freezedMore

We had two of the Mckenzie Trio (Venison, beef and lamb) which you cook yourself to the required level on a hot stone. Accompanied by two sides of your choice. This was a nice, and different dining experience, and excellent! The other two had lamb...racks which were not only cooked to perfection and had plenty of chops (5) so no argument about value for money. Weris and the other staff were attentive and very efficient. The only negative was being told at 8:45pm "last orders" instead of being asked if we would like dessert of coffee...More

Lovely staff. Thank you Kami and Warif (sp?) for being welcoming and making it easy to find gluten free options. The stone grill experience is an extra layer of fun and the steak was perhaps the best I’ve ever had.

I came here on the recommendation of a friend who has been a guide in New Zealand for a long time, and it was fantastic. We had a delicious meal by the lake and "Waris" in particular was very attentive to our orders and took...very professional photos. We had delicious food, and the desserts he recommended were really good. This was our family's first restaurant experience in New Zealand and it gave us some of our best memories, I highly recommend it.More

From Australia here. In NZ we really struggled to get decent pub meals, not sure if it’s just because we visit touristy areas This place was the best place we ate at in our 12 days. Great service and a range of options. The cook...your own meat was a hit, I was a bit paranoid about the chicken and left it on for ages, but it was still juicy maybe thanks to the salt or the cut.More
