Welcome to StockHouse Restaurant, in the shadow of the magnificent Trim Castle. Our restaurant is the result of four people with an avid love of good food, craic and value for money. Born out of eating out in various establishments both in Ireland and abroad, the result "is not just a steakhouse but a restaurant that specialises in steak". Our aim is to provide our patrons with not just a memorable dining experience but a memorable night out! Head Chef John and his team have one goal in mind and that is to provide consistently beautiful food at every serving. With our front of house crew you are in safe hands and they will do their very best to make sure all your needs are met as promptly and satisfactorily as possible. Our love of the historical town of Trim and indeed our beautiful country is evident everywhere in our restaurant from the early years featuring 'The Yellow Steeple' and 'Trim Castle', through to the filming of Braveheart and the Glory Years of Meath Football ... Check out our walls, they make for both great reading and viewing!! Take time to have some banter with our floorstaff, they love nothing more but be warned, if you upset them too much you may find yourself confined to our in-house stocks!! Myself and my family ate here yesterday and I have to say it was lovely . We didn’t have a table booked and we were famished after a walk near trim castle . The staff were not only accommodating to us all two kids and 5 adults but they were so friendly . The kids meals were brought out first and fast and they had a good range of options to choose for them. Our food was’t long after and it was delicious. Service was great and staff very friendly. I would highly recommend.

I’ve heard such great feedback from friends who have been here but only got the chance to visit tonight. And I wasn’t disappointed. I eat my steak blu and it’s surprisingly hard to find somewhere that can cook a steak to my liking. My fillet was spot on, cut like butter and very tasty. My husband enjoyed his ribeye also. Service was brilliant. Only criticism I’d have is the price might be slightly above average for the portions but the quality is definitely there. I’ll be back and would recommend over the other restaurants I’ve visited in Trim.

Promising start with a disappointing finish.

Me and my boyfriend visited this restaurant as its one of our favourites in Trim when we are down. However this time we left slightly disappointed. The new outdoor area is lovely, we must say. We ordered the chicken skewers as a starter and it was lovely, sauce and the chicken was fantastic. This made me more excited for the main course, however, I was let down. I ordered the chicken curry and I got 4,5 pieces of chicken, as I said, more chicken less veg. As my plate was covered in green beans, so much so I managed to fill a bowl of them! My boyfriend ordered Arriabbiata and was also left disappointed with his main, which is sad to write because the location; the staff and also the starters were so nice. We ordered dessert and a drink after and we were happy with these as they were up the standard we expected of the restaurant we know and love. We mentioned this to the waitress and the manager on the night and it was taken as feedback. We received the bill and it was 90 euro, which we were happy with. We said again about the chicken just to leave feedback, didn’t mind paying the cost of the meal however the offer of removing a dessert for the value of €4 was insulting rather than helping. We may have to reconsider if we return to the restaurant which as I said earlier is a shame because we do like the location and staff.

Absolutely terrible service

Service was absolutely terrible. Insulted by manger because of an accidental spill and also discussed the matter with another customer at another table. Was made felt extremely uncomfortable, food took way to long, food was brought out at different times and very unhelpful staff manager was also very ignorant and rude. Will not be back, 100% not with the money you pay.

FAKE NEWS!!!!!!! We feel obliged to respond to this review given the Trumpesque omissions and inaccuracies. Firstly, two of this party of four arrived at 8pm for a table booked for 8.45pm disregarding our Covid-19 policies regarding bookings. They were asked to return at 8.20, which they did, but carrying bags of alcohol which our Manager discreetly held at the Front Desk as BYO is against our policies too. During the meal one party member spilled his Guinness across the floor, said nothing, and then laughed when a staff member nearly fell on same! While cleaning this mess, one other party member apologized for this mans behaviour. Later, our floor manager on hearing a loud noise, which was from the same diner knocking a chip container across the floor, asked the party if everything was alright and jokingly suggested a high chair for the diner to which all laughed. Other diners called our floor manager over and suggested same. Upon presenting the bill the party member who spilled/knocked everything refused to pay a large proportion of the bill, suggesting he was aggrieved at the high chair comment. The rest of his party then became loud and abusive when told the bill must be paid in full and any further refusal would necessitate us calling the Gardai. One member then offered to pay his half but we pointed out our policy of not splitting bills as printed clearly on our menus and bills. Following further abuse, this party finally paid in full and departed from our restaurant for the first and last time.....one thing we've managed to agree on!!!!!

Disappointing

Was looking forward to our meal here after months of lockdown. Would have been our favourite restaurant. The waitresses are friendly and I know it’s not easy with the social distancing and wearing huge face visors. I don’t know if they were nervous but I just felt the service was really poor. We were seated at a table meant for 4 (we were 2) we don’t drink alcohol but all the glasses for 4 people were just left on the table making it really messy. We also weren’t given or offered any water. Impossible to get their attention then for the bill or to come back for payment. No tea/coffee offered either. The food was average whereas before I always would have raved about it. Wings were good to start but the fillet steaks were poor. I asked for medium/well done and my husband medium rare but there were barely cooked. It would turn your stomach. No one came to see if we were ok or if evening was alright..again this is unusual. The worst was the dessert. A pecan/caramel cheesecake. It was just a mess, a melted blob of something on a slate with bits of mars bar on the top. It was truly awful compared to the fabulous desserts they usually serve. Not sure if it’s a new dessert supplier or what but it was terrible. It certainly wasn’t cheesecake anyway. Hopefully it’s all just early days with re opening but not sure We’ll be back for a while.

Almost since First Lockdown a year ago, I have been having my Sunday meal delivered weekly - the Food is absolutely gorgeus, always piping hot and on time. Being over 70, and concerned in case I catch Covid, I do not go out much any more so having my Sunday dinner delivered gives me something to look forward to. My appreciation to Mick and all the team for everything.

Half-Decent Food, but had poor service, was very loud, and very long wait.

The night started out badly with us being placed alone in a far part of the restaurant with only a bunch very loud and drunk women nearby. We heard that there was good music playing, but because of these women we never got the chance to hear it. Our server took forever to come, and he gave us his recommendations. Some of my kids were hungrier, so we asked which item was the most filling, and he recommend the Shepards pie. He recommended for me the curry. The food took well over an hour to arrive, which is far too long, and then the Shepards pie was very small, especially compared to the other kids dishes, which were all smaller anyway. Not good kids portions, expensive and a complete ripoff. The curry wasn't that good as well.

Birthday dinner

We went for here for a friends birthday dinner last Sunday, and the entire experience was so enjoyable. The staff were so helpful and polite and even hid a cake from our friends for us and chatted to us outside to make sure they knew which friend it was even when she was finished her shift! All procedures put in place worked really well and we all felt completely safe. The food was amazing cannot recommend the steak enough and the cocktails were also amazing! Just want to say a massive thank you to all the staff for making our experience so enjoyable and really well done on creating such a lovely and safe atmosphere during such a stressful time. Will definitely be back here again and can not recommend this place enough!

Fabulous Restaurant!

My husband and I visited this restaurant on a weekend stay in Trim. It caught our eye on the night we arrived on the town, it looked buzzing... we just had to go there. We booked a table for the following night and it didn’t disappoint. The restaurant itself looks fab, the staff were extremely welcoming and professional, from the front desk when we arrived, when Megan brought us to our table, a beautiful friendly girl, to David who waited on us at our table. He was very helpful and welcoming and took the time to tell us about Trim. All staff were very attentive to us, we didn’t have to wait to ask for anything. Most importantly the food was amazing, a great selection on the menu and it was simply delicious. I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant if visting Trim. 10 our of 10 for us, we had a fantastic evening. Thank you to all staff. Sandra and Paddy.

Visited in September and had a fabulous time! We were greeted by the manager and he was funny and welcoming. Our server was John, he was really lovely and friendly. The food we were served was delicious! Mussels, Wings and steak which was cooked perfectly served with stunning wine made for an outstanding night. Pavlova for dessert is my recommendation. Prices were reasonable, atmosphere was great, staff very friendly. We really enjoyed our night! Thanks to all the team on shift on Thursday 16th.

Just a massive no

The restaurant was wedged with people to the point my husband and I were at shouting conversation level. A table of about 12 men upstairs and they were rowdy, loud and food being split all over the floor, nothing being done by Management. This was at 7pm on a Friday evening. I was charged €16 for a cocktail, the same cocktail I get whenever we go for dinner and I’ve never been charged more than €12 for, even in centre of Dublin. When raised with the server, I was given a lecture on the cost of 25mls of spirits. My husband got the wrong steak, ordered a 12oz fillet and he got an 8oz strip loin. The incorrect side orders came out. Portion sizes were shocking small for the price. I received no rice with my dinner but was still charged for it. No apology from management and no refund or discount. Would not recommend.

Visited recently for dinner with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Both of us ordered steaks and as I like mine well done I think it was the 1st time ever that it was served as asked! Staff all very friendly and couldn’t fault the service. Lovely for a few cocktails too post dinner. Will definitely be back.

Had a beautiful meal on the last night of our holidays . A lovely restaurant very nice decor and atmosphere under the shadow of Trim Castle. Smokie chicken and beef burger divine . Sea bass was so fresh and tasty and plentiful. Huge choices in desserts. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and extremely friendly especially the beautiful MORGAN and David who were so efficient and gave us their full attention. Would highly recommend a visit but would suggest booking in advance.

After reading reviews and speaking with our Trim B&B hosts we went to Stockhouse for their early bird dinner. Wow! The Brie crumbles for appetizer was sensational and my husband and I both chose the spicey brisket burger (mine naked, a great option). Please go there if you want a great meal with a fun, accommodating staff.

The guys here fitted us in no problem when we arrived without a booking. Both the food and service were excellent, and we both felt safe in the knowledge that they where going above and beyond to adhere to the covid rules. Thanks guys Gwen and Paul x
