Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had the Stoaker meal which is totally overpriced. $49 each which you was expect a great feed. But no. Not enough for the group. When we complained to staff they thought we were joking. Too arrogant to think people wouldn't be happy.More

What a find! Firstly, terrific wines that are reasonably priced served in a unique and original way. Second, intriguing food cooked in old wine barrels with inventive menus. Thirdly a different and casual setting within a marquee, with an outdoor open kitchen. Lastly, incredibly helpful...and friendly team members who cannot do enough to help you, going above and beyond (our host was a young Brazilian lady, I’m sorry I can’t recall her name - but she was awesome). It will be a regular stop over on our NZ visits. A must do.More

Great food, wine & service at The Stoaker Room. Beautifully presented food on large wine barrel platters with very nice wine matches. Our waitress was very attentive & informative about the wines & food. Would highly recommend & would definitely go again.

Loved this place. Great atmosphere, fabulous food and nice Pinot noir. Staff very friendly. Recommend the 3 cheese dish with caramelised onion - yum. It’s probably one of the best places to eat in Cromwell.

Its worth going to see this place for the way they cook the meat. They have turned old wine barrels into meat smokers and there is just something about the end result that is quite yummy. Service was acceptable and I was driving (and also...visiting cellar doors) so I only drank water. It was by all means a pleasant lunch.More

Excellent food, music and ambience. The wine, per glass, is expensive. Maybe a bottle is required with a group and a few hours to while away....

As advertised— this place is vegetarian friendly so 3/4 of us ordered their roasted vegetable salad with halumi cheese (I can’t quite remember what the “salad” was called) and it was not worth the money we spent at all. The vegetables were simply grilled and...were very underdone so the asparagus was hard to bite through and nothing was cut up, it was literally roasted vegetables with cheese. It was bland and absolutely insanely priced at $20+.More

The food that we enjoyed for lunch at Wild Earth for our anniversary was absolutely stunning. We shared the oak stave platter between the two of us and the flavours and presentation were absolutely mind-blowing. Supremely good value to have it with a flight of...matched wines for each of the dishes on the platter and we finished off with a beautiful cheesecake dessert. The staff were so friendly and down to earth and Incredibly welcoming. I would highly recommend this for group lunches, couples dates, absolutely everybody should go pretty amazing experience that everything is cooked in a wine barrelMore

While taking a detour in Cromwell, we chanced upon Wild Earth! It was indeed a lucky day as this turned out to be one of the best meals we had during our trip in NZ! The service was great and we love the cosy ambience...at Wild Earth. The food was cooked in an oak barrel (their patented formula) and hence there was a nice smoky taste to the food. We had the rump steak with duck fat roasted potatoes and chicken thighs with grilled vegetables. The food was heavenly and I still miss the taste! The portion is huge for Asian appetite so unfortunately we couldn’t finish it although we loved it. We also did the flight of 5 wines tasting. Love their Reisling so we bought a bottle too. Hope more people get to try their good food since their location may not be so good. Highly recommended restaurant!More

Well worth a visit for the food alone. All cooked in oak barrels and the choice is divine. Food is of a very high quality and each dish has a wine to complement it...so a nonominated driver is advisable
