About
The Bannockburn Hotel is a Wine Country Restaurant and Bar is just across the bridge from Cromwell, a thriving township in the heart of Central Otago. We are privileged to look out over some of the finest vineyards in the world. We’ve seen the Gold Rush of the 1860’s, the Chinese settlements have come and gone, the valley has flooded and we’re still here serving great food, beer, and amazing local wine. With over 200 wines on our list and more than 80 of those by the glass, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to sample some fantastic wine with your lunch, dinner, or lazy grazing snack. Our menu is a sharing or tapas style and features a varied list of innovative dishes for you to experience together

Such a warm welcome from waiting staff who knew the menu and offered advice about the wine if required. Checked in with us to ensure we were happy and enjoying our meal and though many restaurants do this I felt it was more genuine here...than any where else we’ve eaten this week. This place has exceptional views, delicious food and exceptional service. Wish I could eat here more often. If you’re in the area don’t pass this place by. The sound insulation in the ceiling made it a pleasant place to eat even though it was busy with large parties. Highly recommend this venue.More

From the time we stepped in the front door, Chris was there to welcome us. We were offered a wonderful dining experience. From the extensive wine list, to the sharing Tapas menu, or individual if you required, not to mention the yummy desserts. Chris guided...us through the selection options, he and all his staff were attentive, friendly and informative. We could not fault the service, wine, presentation and food. Thanks so much team, you made our day. We'll be back :)More

The last time I visited here it was a pub, with a public bar and has now been turned into a modern eatery. Loved the tapas menu, and the fish & chips (cod) were superb. Great wine list too

A lovely original hotel lovingly restored. Incredible views over Felton Road - but the differentiator is the menu (food is world-class) and the wine list (extensive and high quality). Plus the staff and service is exceptional. Great for a boozy lunch (with a cab booked)...or an intimate dinner. If a nice day, make sure you ask for an outside table! And bookings are essential.More

It was a lovely day so the views were stunning, the plates we had were all good, as you could assume the wine was the same, and the service was NZish at it's best. Highly recommended.

We had heard about the Bannockburn Hotel from a number of friends, and happened upon the most stunning afternoon to tour the area. The topography of the area is very interesting and stunning, and the restaurant at the Hotel has the most beautiful view over...the valley. The maitre’d (wife of the chef, I believe) was charming, and passionate about the place and what they were offering. A very well considered sharing menu - we were recommended 4-5 sharing dishes between 3 of us, which was perfect. It does get pretty windy in these parts, so picking your day is key, but just a fabulous outing. It is a particularly lovely and scenic part of the world - couldn’t ask for more of an afternoon. I would probably suggest making a booking....More

We loved everything about our meal and experience at Bannockburn Hotel. The food was outstanding, I have never had lamb so tender and flavoursome, and the lemon curd cheesecake was punchy and lemony. Combine this with an amazing wine selection and outstanding service and you...will be glad you dined here.More

We had a beautiful meal here. The views over the surrounding countryside are amazing. Menu is mostly tapas dishes, but 'conventional' meals available too. All the tapas dishes we chose were delicious, and matched with excellent wines. We just managed to squeeze in the Creme...Catalan at the end, with a beautiful dessert wine. Service was friendly and knowledgeable - highly recommended.More

Loved our evening here. We were lucky with great weather and we were able to sit outside. Amazing food, views and staff. We ordered 4 different tapas and we were not disappointed. Wish we could have had more. To be recommended if visiting Cromwell.
