My daughter and I try and make a date to go here every week, and it's not enough... Fantastic food and always the best service. Authentic Vietnamese by a fabulous Vietnamese chef. The Bahn Mi is the best I've found anywhere in NZ, they really know what they're doing. My daughter is vegan, and they're always happy to change things up to meet her needs. My absolute go-to restaurant in Cambridge. Not five stars - TEN.

Three of us enjoyed a very good lunch at Hanoi Boy. My wife ordered two versions of spring rolls, I ordered a pork and noodles base dish and my brother had a form of Vietnamese filled roll. My brother and I also had a Vietnamese coffee, which was very good.

Have picked up Friday nite takeaway dinns here twice now. Both times went for the chicken "deluxe" option recommended by the chef. Both times it came with a good dose of humour sent both ways. Tonite we're gonna try the beef pho and the pork noodle-ee thang. Highly recommended for generous serves (almost couldn't finish it, definitely needed a beer to wash down the heat of the chili - in a really good way ;-)
Go on, try it, deelish.

Cambridge locals, been customers for over 4 years for takeaways.
First time tried to go for lunch there, one other table of 2 apart from us and we got basically kicked out because we were taking up “too much space” and we had a buggy with us and it was “a nuisance” to other customers (one table apart from us). The guy had a terrible attitude, no customer service skills, told us to move, complained about the buggy, and that our girls sat at another table (they wouldn’t be staying there for the meal).
If you have kids, buggies, wheelchairs, etc don’t bother.
I have never encountered such poor reception at a cafe in my life.
Shame on you. We will never be back, will never get a takeaway either, and will spread the word.

Possibly the least Vietnamese tasting meal I've had in a "Vietnamese" restaurant.
And I've eaten lots including in Hanoi and Saigon (HCM)
We were a group of 9.
And four of us were unfortunate to order dishes with grilled chicken in it.
The pcs of chicken were burnt to a black crisp on the underside. Neither was there any taste of lemongrass or fish sauce which r the staple Viet flavors
The fact the chef thot he could serve the chicken and not have us notice was quite disappointing.
The Mgr did take the price of the Banh Mie off the bill
But honestly, I won't be back for such bad "Vietnamese" cuisine. It would not even qualify as Viet Fusion.
(We were attracted by the 5 stars rating)

Went to Hanoi Boy on a Saturday night.
We found that the staff were quite unhelpful and didn’t seem to care, we arrived at 8pm for our booking and ordered food and drinks, when we finished our mains at 9pm we were told that the kitchen was closed and that we couldn’t get any dessert. This was disappointing as we didn’t get told beforehand that the kitchen would be closed and dessert would not be an option. The mocktail that we ordered was also disappointing, mostly ice and very little of the drink. Not worth it for $10.
We mentioned this to a staff member but they didn’t care to rectify or offer an explanation for this. Response was ‘it’s very popular’
However, the food was great, really tasty and good portion sizes.

We visited Hanoi Boys new restaurant in Cambridge after having eaten previously in their food cart.
It was a very pleasant visit. Not a massive menu but quite enough. We enjoyed the calamari, spring rolls and the Bun Cha, the three dishes were quite delicious.
A pleasant evening out for a very reasonable price. We'll certainly be back

What an experience, not just the food but the chat while you wait. Don’t order online and get delivery, its almost like visiting a friend cooking you dinner. Never forgets a face.
Always fresh ingredients and flavours that make you come back. And the chilies, while hot add so much more to the dishes.

I found Hanoi Boy on Google Maps a few weeks back when we were travelling through the area and noted it down as it had great reviews. When we returned to stay in Cambridge we made sure we visited. As per the reviews, the food was fresh and tasty and the owner was very welcoming and chatty. It was great to chow down and know what you were eating was pretty healthy too. Will return on our next visit for sure. Yuuuum.

We’ve just devoured another delicious meal from Don at Hanoi Boy. The food never fails to deliver and neither does owner Don with his witty repartee. Everything is fresh and tasty, it is our go to when childminding our Grandchildren, we all just love it.

Best food in Cambridge. Fun buzzing casual vibe. Com Ga Deluxe and the Bun Cha are to die for as are the cocktails, also the best in town. I go here all the time, great value for money.

Bun cha and com ga pretty much the same as when he was in the caravan down the road. Much warmer to eat out now in a full indoor restaurant. Great place great foood reasonably priced for what it is.

We were actually planning on going elsewhere as this is a recent addition to Cambridge. So pleased we took a chance, but watch out it can get busy even on a Tuesday lunchtime.
One of the best Pho I've had outside of Vietnam.

A great spot for a quick meal on the road. Streetside location, with plenty of tables and chairs from the adjacent cafe available. Good fun, and a good bloke in the kitchen. The other customers when we were there were mostly cow cockies, joking away with Mr Boy, so it had to be good. And it was.
