We opted to dine at the waterside as we were guests at the hotel. The restaurant was lovely, nice addition of a log burner next to some comfy couches to relax on after dinner. The menu was quite pricey but we opted for the 2 courses for £15 which we thought would be good value. All the food was absolutely delicious! I particularly enjoyed the fish and chips. Drinks are pricey-£5.60 for a pint!!! The waterside cocktail is a must try

Bought one of the 2 course deals online and found it excellent value for money. The night we visited was during one of our seemingly endless number of storms but on entering we found it lovely and warm and welcoming. Service was very good and a fairly good choice on the menu. All our dishes were well presented and tasted lovely but a word of warning, wine is well overpriced.

Second visit to the beautifully located restaurant. Unfortunately no improvement on the service. 20 minutes wait for the drinks and 30 minutes for the food to be delivered. Food was cold so obviously sitting under the hot plate. Loads of waiting staff but management should concentrate on the kitchen service and managing the back of house. It’s such a shame but it seem the reputation of service preceded everything else. One staff member was very attentive with great skills which we thanked her for.

Myself and a friend went to have some lunch on Friday the 7th of August 2020 at around 1 pm and told, we had to leave by 2 pm. COVID 19 regulation or table booking I can't remember. We were shown to a table and asked if we would like a drink while we decided on what to order. The drinks arrived 5 or so minutes later, good so far. 20 minutes later we had to remind a member of staff we had been waiting 20 minutes, since the drinks arrived for someone to take our order. Order taken. Our food arrived and as you can see from the photos my friends light snack seemed the same portion size as my main course and half the price. But this can some times happen. My burger cane with chips that were mildly warm and onion rings that were severely undercooked. I couldn't eat any of the onion rings. As for the chips, not appetizing. Now the burger also was also mildly warm, the chicken in the middle was not hot or seemed hot. I did take a few mouthfuls to see if I was missing something. But no I couldn't finish it. I am always wary of food in restaurants when my food comes out on cold plates.A hot plate makes such a difference to keeping the food warm. And both, myself and my friends plates were cold. And even before we had tasted our food a waitress, as she walked by aakes" is everything okay ?" And was gone. So food, out of 10, is a 3. As for service we had to attract the attention of staff to order food and to get the bill. And even at the end when we paid the bill the lady said " thank you and have a nice day." Mostly to the mirror at the bar, not even looking in our direction by that time, she had swiped the card and got the money and she was off. Food, retrain the chef or fire. Waiting staff retrain on good customer service, look people in the eye, look, scan the tables you are responsible for, to see if customers need assistance. I have never in, maybe 10 years,so wanted just to walk out of a restaurant, my friend did not want to make a scene. As you can see from the pictures a lot of food was left uneaten however not one member of staff asked the simple question, " was something wrong with your food ? " So overall not an enjoyable experience.

We waited twenty minutes to order. One of our party wanted GF pasta another GF Fajitas. After ten minutes waitress came and said no GF pasta. Ten minutes later came back to say no GF Fajitas but order just delivered so GF pasta. After a long wait food arrived. The meal was OK but nothing outstanding. There were five of us and the restaurant was not busy so no excuse for such slow service. We arrived at 12:00 and left at 14:05 an inordinately long time for lunch. Our previous visit was years ago when it first opened and the service then was equally slow so we won’t dine there again. Unfortunately we are attending a wedding there in May. It could be a long day.

Can I first say that the Waterside has always been a favourite place for our family over the years! I realise that Covid19 has affected the hospitality industry more than most and that you have to be praised on getting back to some level of normality. The service of the guys and girls was fantastic as usual! However on attending the Waterside on for my wife’s birthday lunch myself and my wife felt somewhat let down by the seemingly lower quality of food and the marked increase in prices! How it can be justified for over £7 for the starters especially the bruschetta! The mains portions are smaller with the quality of the beef burger being dry, the battered fish being a lot smaller than before with a poor quality tartar sauce in a paper serving pot you would see in McDonalds! The tandoori chicken sauce was very bland served with supermarket quality nan bread! The side of hand chips were overcooked and seemed reheated! Both myself and my son were having soft drinks where on receiving the bill found it was £3.30 for a soft drink! I looked up the Watersides menu from last year and found an increase of almost 25% on some items! On speaking to family at a small get together later in the evening they asked how our lunch was and on giving our honest opinion the were taken aback by our comments over the quality and value! The following day I revived an email feedback request which I completed honestly and submitted! I have not received any response from this. I can truly say that until I see a marked improvement in the quality and pricing structure we will not be returning to your establishment!

Wow! I went in to this restaurant with very low expectations after reading some reviews on here prior and boy was I right to do so. These low expectations werent even met. The service started off well with us being shown to a table on the mezzanine level of the restaurant and our order for drinks and food being taken within a reasonable time. However it all went downhill from there. Our starters came, salt and chilli chicken and the bruchetta. The brushetta was brick hard, my fiance has difficulty just cutting it and it also looked as if it had been lying out for ages. The salt and chilli chicken was overly crispy and lacked the salt and chilli apart from a side of sweet chilli sauce. After our starters were taken away I ordered more drinks to make sure they came before our main arrived. After asking 3 times for these drinks and going down to the bar to ask again they finally arrived when my fiance had finished his main course. Our mains were the steak and the fishcakes. Although the main parts of our main meals were just okay, the side dishes were horrific and we were severly put off after not having anything to drink with our dinner. And don't even get me started on the breakfast the next day! Overall the service was shocking and the food was not worth the money at all. I'm all for giving restaurants a try no matter what the trip advisor reviews are but it was not worth the time spent there or the money we paid. Staff need to be more attentive and the kitchen staff need a serious retrain if thats the type of food theyre serving for these prices.

We went as a family of 4, greeted very friendly and shown to our table where we were told about the one way system etc. Drinks order taken and everything seemed fine. Had a look at the menu, as I've been a few times I instantly new the prices had went up quite a considerable amount, possible to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme, who knows. So we order food, starters were OK not great but OK. I then had a burger that was clearly a frozen one due to the density of it, a bun that was solid and "dirty fries" that had a teaspoon of bbq sauce even less cheese and 3 pieces of half cooked bacon, at £16.95 (extra quid for cheese) you would at least expect a fresh burger. My son had a jack Daniels "glazed" chicken and rib combo.the chicken was infact just a chicken breast with cajun spice blend on it no glaze and 5 half ribs that had a splash of sauce after being boiled, again no glaze at £17 you would expect better. The service was good so we cant fault the waiting staff, however who ever is in charge of pricing and the cooking needs a good hard look at themselves. We will most definitely not be back, an I wouldn't recommend to anyone unless it's for a overpriced coffee

Our booking was for 7.30pm and we arrived in plenty of time. The restaurant wasn’t busy and we got our table straight away. Drink orders were taken and drinks arrived promptly. However… after placing our food orders we waited … and waited … and waited. People who had arrived a good 15 minutes after us got their food whilst we still waited. Eventually after at around 8.10 (40minutrs after placing our orde) a waiter approached and said our waiter had made an ‘honest mistake’ and given two of our three orders to ‘someone else’! As it appeared a genuine error we waited again and after a further 10 minutes our food arrived; 1 vegetable fajitas, 1 chicken breast and 1 treacle cured beef. The fajitas were piping hot however… the other two dishes were cold and we understandably sent them back. We again waited approximately another 10 minutes and were brought our new hot meals. By this time both myself and my daughter were thoroughly put off by the whole experience and whilst the food was of an acceptable quality, we both felt unable to fully enjoy our food and didn’t eat more than half of our meals. We were initially offered free desserts by way of apology but by the time we got our main meals it was around 8.30 so obviously due to our previous experience and wait, we declined these. We were given (what we thought) was 50% discount on our bill but turned out to be only off food so ended up paying £62.56 for what was essentially the WORST dining experience I have every had! I would like to also say that although the waiter we had was very apologetic, at no time were we approached by anyone who identified themselves as management staff to offer any sort of apology. This is very bad customer service and total Indifference shown to paying customers. Won’t be back.

We visited the Waterside with friends from down south and were so disappointed and embarrassed by both the service and food. I had gone in to the restaurant the previous night to book and after waiting 5 minutes I asked at the bar if they were taking reservations, I was told to wait as they were busy, I suppose this should have been my warning sign. We arrived and were quickly shown to our table for 6 however no menus were forthcoming and we were told that our server was trying to find some. There were lots of dirty dishes piled high on the tray stands, this meant the servers had no where to put their full trays and resulted in several spillages, one was a pint of lager down the back of a member of our party. We eventually ordered and the food arrived, it was mediocre at best. Some of the starters were not particularly warm, the salad had seen better days and the cutlery given was not suitable for the food ordered. Things went rapidly downhill when the main courses arrived. The beef was dry and tough and Yorkshire pudding was cremated. The rice with the curry was stuck in large lumps and looked like it had been microwaved. Enough was enough though when something crawled out of my salad. The manager came to the table and offered us desserts, we turned down this offer. He also explained they were very busy and it had been a difficult time for hospitality. The party all acknowledged this but we really couldn’t see why this had an impact on the food served. The manager then offered to adjust the bill however when this came it was not as agreed and we spoke again to management. We have eaten here previously and the food has always been of a reasonable starter.

This was an awful experience. Firstly, we had booked for 5pm but still had to wait in a 30 minute queue. Had reserved a table outside however after asking 3 separate waitresses and then lying about having no tables we settled with a table indoors. No problems about the food it was fine other than being over priced. Such a strange restaurant, you can see some staff being rude to others, polishing cutlery beside our table etc? We waited 18 minutes for a bottle of cola and asked twice for its whereabouts. The staff didn’t ask us anything😂 we had to get our own spoons😂 despite an abundance of bored uncaring staff, we weren’t asked anything and ignored. The server rolled her eyes twice when taking our order (we can still see your eyes despite you wearing a mask.) 😂 So so bad you can’t make this stuff up. 😂Genuinely the worst uncaring experience we’ve ever ever had, I’m shocked as to how a lovely looking hotel can operate like this. We’re still so shocked as to how ridiculous this place is. Don’t bother to ever waste your time or money here, wouldn’t g

Was very excited to come here for our Sunday family dinner, unfortunately left with a very bad taste, there was hardly anything on the menu, the waiter had to come about 5 times and say they run out of stuff, then to get a main course that tasted like it was sitting under the heating lamp for an hour... the linguine was the worst I had to date, tasted like cold passata and overcooked scallops, wouldn’t recommend to eat here, the views are lovely hence why we came it’s just a shame they didn’t deliver with the food. Service was good they gave us free Martini to compensate the luck of things on the menu... won’t be back :(

Decided to visit yesterday as a ‘last chance’ having had various bad experiences one way or another. Sadly it lived up to it’s missed opportunity status, food average and over priced, service is amateurish at best. Our food was delivered at different times and although a couple of dishes were starters we made it clear they were as mains, but somehow the message didn’t get through, so we all ate in shifts! The pricing for the kids meals was wrong and we were overcharged but couldn’t be bothered pointing that out and trying to get our few pounds back, been there done it and they are not very good at that either. It’s mainly kids working and they obviously don’t get much training. It’s basically bar food and way overpriced, there are other local hotels that offer a much better dining experience. It’s a shame as we live locally and the location is great but we won’t be back or recommend it to anyone.

Used this restaurant many times but our first trip back after lockdown . From sitting down until our food put on the table One hour sixteen minutes That was after the waitress spilled my grandsons apple juice down my sleeve. Portions poor and prices Way over the top obviously trying to recoup their Civid lockdown losses .Children’s three course menu £12.20 yes not a mistake £12.20 And that was a make your own child pizza . Pizza base in Morrison's 70p topping £1 You do the maths .The places now looks tired and tables had a sticky surface . Will now cut up my loyalty card and that was my last visit . To think I recommended the restaurant to friend .

Visited for lunch with my wife, mum and our two young children and will certainly not be returning. Our table was towards the back of the restaurant, with two other young families had also been seated. At the end of our table two workmen had drills and lightbulbs scattered across the next table, clearly completing some maintenance work in the middle of lunch service, not the best first impression. Restaurant was not overly busy but drinks and food were very slow to arrive and we had to ask for condiments, straws etc. On the arrival of my food, I looked to find that half of my cheese and tomato Spanish cooked baguette had literally one piece of tomato and no cheese. For £9.10 ( highly overpriced) you would expect to at least have the filling present. I brought it to servers attention and she removed it whilst the rest of my family ate lunch with me left waiting for my replacement. Overall quality of food was very average and overpriced. As we ate lunch, two other customers alongside their dog were then sat at a table near us. Personally, I have issues with dogs being in restaurants and do have an allergy to dogs. I brought this to the attention of a server who informed me that we had been sat in the dog friendly section of the restaurant. I indicated that there was no signage to alter us to this and that I felt very uncomfortable with this. I asked to speak to the manager, and a supervisor came over. She was very dismissive and said we could move if we wanted, I asked why they would sit young families in a dog frodnly section and she had no reply. I also asked why we were not informed that we were being sat in a dog friendly area and again no reply. She then said you can move if you want, to which my response was we are in the middle of our lunch with a 1 and 3 year old. I asked for a complaints form and she failed to get back to me. On leaving I approached her to ask again for the form, she said we don’t have any. I then asked to speak to the manager who was one of the rudest people I have encountered. He made no attempt to apologise and instead was dismissive and argumentative. I intend to escalate this complaint but would urge potential customers to avoid this place: average over priced food and terrible levels of customer service. AVOID if at all possible!
