Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well worth stepping away from the beachfront to visit this local restaurant in the town. We had calamari and snapper, both really well cooked with delicious spicing and flavouring. We had a great chat with Kido, who was a really interesting guy, and we learnt some more Swahili. Very fresh and well presented.

great local experience. Dont get afraid going out of the beach into local village! Restaurant will cook for you fresh seafood directly from the fish market and it is very unique experience. The food is great! Whats really cool though is that this is all run by a local guy and by going there you support the local folks from the village! You will get to see the village and how the locals live as well! whats even better is they organize tours and transports too! they have best prices in Zanzibar so if you need taxi or anything else look no further! I highly recommend snorcheling at the Mpemba island! better book here than with the hotels!:-)

We just had a delicious lunch at Furaha Local Restaurant. We ordered the sea food platter and it was super fresh and tasted delicious.
Idi, the owner and chef, was very friendly and hospitable.
The restaurant is small and clean and is located in the middle of the village behind the hotel. We are staying in Zanzibar Sunrise Hotel, which is only a 5-minute walk from the restaurant.
I recommend every tourist to have lunch or dinner here. You pay much less for your food than in hotels. Our 2-person sea food platter was only 45 USD and even better than the one at the hotel!

An exciting experience, the best fish I’ve eaten on the whole trip in Zanzibar, along with a tomato sauce and rice.
When we got to the restaurant it was lit up, a guy called the chef, we had to order too so you could hear the chopping from the kitchen, after waiting a while we got to enjoy a fantastic meal, and meanwhile the maintenance of local friends. Is very nice evening.🤩

Large wooden cabin in the middle of the village, four tables feet in the sand, and excellent cuisine made to order, hence a wait...certain. But the preparations (fish, squid, lobster, seafood ..) are perfect, not very spicy. Original desserts (bananas cooked in spicy coconut sauce are delicious). 58000tsh to two.

Great local restaurant. Cheapest food I had on the island (grilled octopus and coke zero for 17k). Lovely chef and a real local treasure!
I approached from the ‘main’ road and found it empty, but the local people around told me to sit and wait and within no time Chef arrived.
From the beach is easier, the Chef has a big sign there and a shop.

Reviews are absolutely accurate with this restaurant. Food takes awhile, but very good. Worth a trip. Would visit again. A true local establishment, however food is better than some fancy restaurants I’ve eaten at.

A real local restaurant, the name is not usurped! You have to get lost in the alleys of the village of Matemwe to reach this restaurant. We are warmly welcomed, the menu is simple but varied, the cuisine is excellent. Then I won't be as dithyrambic as some people. The cuisine is good, the portions are correct, the prices are also but it is also not super cheap. To emphasize the kindness of the boss who took us to the beach through the village paths.

We ate fish as well as a lentil and coconut sauce, each served over rice. It was delicious and the owner is very friendly. The owner does village tours as well.

Terrible experience, we found it on trip advisor so went there, first it is not on the beach but behind in the small village you have to go through a very street to reach, when we arrived it took them 10 minutes to tell us that most of the menu was not available, they also couldn’t clarify the catch of the day, which was very shady to us…finally the prices are really overated for what it is…better find any restaurants on the beach side you will have a better experience
