I never come to Wanaka without dinner here and tonight was no exception. Best food. Great service. Marta remembered what wine I like from a year ago. Dumpling to die for. Pork belly to die for. Out on the balcony watching the sun set. Will...be back. This is service and food at its bestMore

The food was distinctly average , except for the deserts which were frankly atrocious. We tried to order a cheese plate but apparently that took at least 30minutes preparation and we got the distinct impression we were being discouraged from even trying. The service was...friendly but haphazard and it took a ,long time to clear plates . We had to ask to have redundant glasses removed. It is also a bit noisy . Was hot until they opened the window behind us then cold. Understaffed on the floor and possibly in the kitchen . Charged 15% public holiday surcharge on a Saturday which is not a public holiday in fact ( one does wonder will they charge that on Sunday too and then Monday which is a public holiday ? ) . It was advertised on the door but not when we booked. Would we go there again? No. There are far better places to eat in Wanaka.More

We were looking for somewhere special to celebrate New Year's Eve, and someone recommended Kota. What a fabulous choice! The four of us had a brilliant evening. The food was delicious. I was surprised I chose the Crispy Cauliflower, but it was a great decision....So yummy! The others enjoyed the fish and the duck. The creme brûlée was amazing!I also appreciated that there was some really great tea options as well - many don't seem to cater so well to tea drinkers. The staff were attentive and special thanks to Mylene and the rest. The evening finished with a wonderful vantage point to enjoy the spectacular fireworks. A truly memorable evening.More

I picked this restaurant due to its reviews on TA and we were not disappointed. The food was outstanding and well priced. The location is also great as very few restaurants in Wanaka have a view and we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the...view of the lake and mountains. Excellent service also. Definitely recommend.More

Sat outside on the balcony with a stunning view of the lake is a great start to our visit here. We enjoyed a cocktail follow by some wonderful food. We ordered Kokoda which is not the best I have had and was my least favourite...off the dishes we ordered. The Octopus was amazing, my only complaint is I shared it with my husband, highly recommended the Octopus. Pork Belly was our main course, delicious but no crackle. Plenty if food on the menu to choose from and would like to visit again.More

So good I was back a second time the next night! Fresh flavoursome dishes - I couldn’t fault the starter, mains or desserts I tried. Devine. Excellent front of house service and a magical spot for views across Lake Wanaka. Can’t wait to return!

We were impressed with this restaurant. I had butter chicken and my husband had duck. Both were delicious. The service was efficient and friendly and we enjoyed chatting to our host. No hesitation in recommending Kota and if we lived locally, we would be regular...customers.More

As locals, we like ‘spreading the love’ around all the local restaurants etc and although it’s a while since we last dined at Kota, it definitely won’t be long until our next visit. Along with two friends from Christchurch, we dined there last night (Sunday...15th Nov) and enjoyed a sumptuous feast beginning with San Choy Bau (Crispy fried mushrooms) . . . Delicious! , Dumplings . . . Super tasty, Kokoda (Fijian style coconut ceviche fish) and divine Octopus. It was a roaring start which left us pondering how good the mains would stack up. We needn’t have worried of course. I (along with my friend), chose the duck which was simply the most amazing I’ve ever had, my wife chose the beer shoulder which was absolutely amazing with the soft tones of the accompanying curry sauce. Our other friend opted for Pork belly, which was simply amazingly tasty. We couldn’t ‘quite manage’ 4 desserts, but the two we did pick (Creme brûlée and Lemon and gin tart), were shared and eagerly devoured. We just love this place and will be visiting again sooner rather than later. Thanks team (John and Kaye)More

Walked into the restaurant tonight at 6.30 without a reservation for husband and myself. Seated right away by our lovely waitress Marta. We both ordered the pork belly which is up there with the nicest we've had. And then desert... he had his usual Creme...Brulee which he loved. I had a Baileys and Chocolate Mousse. Ohmygod this was the most delicious sweet I've ever eaten. The base was meringue pieces with crushed hazelnut. It was topped with a delicate sorbet, I think perhaps Cardamon. There was a special deal going - two courses for $45. We though this was very good value. Highly recommended and denial thanks to Marta. I'm in awe if her organizational skill in a busy restaurant.More
