Nice but Pricey

I do recommend Urban Grind to people however, $17.50 is way too expensive for a bacon butty. We used to come all the time when they were $13.50, I also had a scone recently and there was only one tiny piece of bacon in it they used to be so much better than that. .

A must-go-to in Wanaka!

We went today for a late breakfast/early brunch. The coffee was delicious and our food was so good! I had avo on toast with tomato and mushrooms and my partner had the egg & bacon roll with fries. His was perfectly cooked and the fries were just crisp and delicious. Mine was beyond good - a huge portion of mushrooms, fresh tomatoes and salsa plus a generous helping of mashed avocado. The service was great and it didn't cost a fortune.

Great setting and really nice staff

We found this place by accident on the way back in the evening. It was really nice. The hot chocolates could have been hot but this was made up by the excellent taste and the way the staff went out of their way first us even though they were about to close. Will be back for breakfast and lunch as a great menu and atmosphere.

Visited the cafe at a busy time of the year, however the service was still bare minimum with slow service to even place your order, no cutlery or water being brought to the table with the food or before or after. Prior customer dishes weren’t cleared until our meal was almost finished. The food was overpriced and the serving size was ridiculously small. Overall incredibly disappointed with the entire experience and I will not be going back.

We travelled from gore to Wanaka on Wednesday, we ate at your establishment at lunch time & the only thing more miserable than the weather that day we’re your staff! They were miserable, unhappy & impolite, it felt like we were an inconvenience and couldn’t wait for us to leave. Will think twice before coming back again.

Million Dollar Fitout with Crap Coffee and Food

What's the point of putting millions into an impressive fitout when the food and coffee you serve is absolute junk. Burnt, poor quality coffee. Funky tasting avocado smash. Children's meals piled with cheese and burnt bread. Lift your game guys as a pretty fitout doesn't cut it when the quality of food is terrible. I cant fathom why you would put so much money I to how the place looks, and then scum on the quality of produce you serve.

Great food, environment and service

I frequently visit Urban Grind for coffees, breakfast, lunch or dinner and ever since the new owners took over have loved the place. The food and drink are absolutely delicious and the staff members are friendly and helpful. Their pizzas are probably the best in Wanaka and are great alongside their tapas menu for a relaxed dining experience. The atmosphere is awesome and I highly recommend to guests staying in my Air BnB. I look forward tk trying more of the dishes available!

Amazing Cafe

Always busy this funky little eatery never disappoints! Really friendly staff & the food is amazing😘 I enjoyed the Avocado Smash - delicious with both cherry and toasted tomatoes, dried black olives & pickled red onion💋 **Don't forget to check out the homemade sweets cabinet🍪🍰 The interior has an industrial vibe with a few stool seats available out of the front terrace. The amazing Wanaka view can be seen from several of the inside tables. Definitely dine at Urban Grind👍

Popped in for lunch, bit dissapointed by the menu. Staff ignored us as we came in so we grabbed our own menus and seated ourselves out the back on the deck in the sun. Waitress seemed very disinterested. We ordered and received meals in about 20mins, not many people there at about half 1 on a Sat. Food was just OK had smashed avo with tomato and duck roti, hubby said could have eaten two of his not very filling. My avo was not fresh avo but more of a premixed guacamole that was just ok. Would try somewhere else next time.

Love the decor, super trendy! Staff were friendly enough, very busy but the food didn't take too long. The halloumi at $8 was a rip off! Husband didn't enjoy his bacon & egg buttie & he never complains.

ALL THE CREDIT GOES TO THE STAFF<3.

We are mexican and all our trip it was hard to get used to that "late night" in NZ is like, 8pm. We always found everything closed, jaja. So, of course that night, looking around Wanaka to have something to eat, everything was a no-go. Eventhough this place was about to close and they told us that the kitchen was already closed, they offered us what they had in the cafeteria area with a smile on their faces and SUCH A NICE ATTITUDE. I have worked in restaurants before and I know how it feels to recieve costumers when you are about to go home, but these girls went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable even joking and talking with us :) I really hope I could have known their names. Anyway, the hot chocolate and the cake I ordered were waaaay too sweet for my taste and a little too expensive, but with the service of these two girls, it was worth it :) thank you!!

Good scones average coffee

While consuming copious amounts of coffee and cheese scones while on our South Island roadie we expected great things from this "well healed", client based cafe. The cheese scones impressed however, while looking great the coffee was over extracted and barely drinkable. We accept macchiatos can be difficult to prepare but this didn't live up to expectations.

Good shared dishes - check how many you will need.

Went in a group of 4 and chose a number of the shared dishes plus a pizza. All food was good we especially liked the bacon fat roasted potatoes. Limited desserts but overall an excellent night. Wait staff very good and interacted in a friendly and positive way

Nice busy cafe

The scones are delish ,take aways are nice a quick however if you want to have a sit down meal without feeling rushed do not go here. Today we went in for breakfast and our food came before the smoothies there were dirty dishes from previous customers on our table, beside us on both sides behind us, it was very busy and there are a lot of staff, some young employees which just tend to roam around not wanting to clear the tables there was one in particular. That stood at the pass doing nothing when clearly the tables needed clearing it was very dissapointing seeing her look at the tables and not clear them

Lovely staff, great coffee but caution, no wifi

Lovely service, friendly thoughtful staff who saw I had a laptop under my arm and chose a table with a power socket for me without me saying anything and the food and coffee were great! But I chose Urban Grind because the top review on here says it has the best wifi in town and it doesn't have wifi at all... so just a word of caution if you're going to a cafe because you need to email in an urgent remote assignment... For great everything else, definitely go here!
