Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although hidden down a little laneway this cafe is obviously well known to locals. Fantastic service, great menu and cabinet food and great vibe. The best date scone I have tasted. Coffee was superb snd value for money overall.

Called in the other day to have our favourite pulled pork roti, it's been a while. Disappointing, no tangy sauce on the pork, no dressing on the mountain of coleslaw. Come on guys what's going on here? Dry as a wooden God. Bring back the...old recipe because it was delicious.More

We visited Federal Diner at lunchtime, so both the breakfast and the lunch menu were available to us, giving us a range of choices. The food was really good, the service was prompt and courteous and it has a nice atmosphere. Warm and cozy in...the cafe.More

This brilliant cafe was found by my wife. Slightly off the beaten track in the heart of Wanaka, the breakfast was absolutely superb. Fortunately, one table inside; it was absolutely rammed as it’s immensely popular. My wife enjoyed the fabulous kedgeree whilst I opted for...the more conventional eggs and bacon. Eggs cooked perfectly, which is always a trial for most restaurants and plates arrived with hot food, again marginally unusual! They also managed to serve my Americano with my meal which I requested, but most overlook this time delay after ordering. In summary, an extremely awesome cafe; I cannot rate it any higher. Part of me wished we had stayed in Wanaka a 2nd night, just to return for breakfast again!!More

"The Monk" Eggs Benedict was small and on very very thin bread. Hollandaise was lacking seasoning and poached eggs were over done so not runny at all. The "Hawea Flat" was kinda half done, very scarce piece of halloumi, polenta cake was not fully cooked....For Wanaka, you expect quantity and quality for money which wasn't the case, especially for your locals. Staff were very friendly.More

Went for an early breakfast our first morning in Wanaka. Nice vibe, casual atmosphere. The scone was a true, buttery scone (though I don’t think the date one was anything special). Egg breakfasts were also good.

Decided to visit after reading reviews on Trio Advisor and was not disappointed. We were warmly greeted and had very attentive service. It was a busy place with people coming on all the time and the staff worked hard to accommodate everyone. The food is...fresh and healthy. I had the Hawea which was spinach, mushrooms, tomato and halloumi on a polenta cake. Simply delicious. My daughter ooted for a cheese and bacon crossiant which was large and fluffy. Will return on our next visit to WanakaMore

We had breakfast at Federal Diner a couple of days ago. Everything was impressive - the atmosphere, the very friendly nature of the staff, and our delicious food. We’ve been in New Zealand for a week and my wife said it was her best meal...yet…. If we’d stayed longer in the area, I think we’d have come back here every day.More
