Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went here as a family of 4 in December. It is in a fab setting, overlooking the lake. The food was actually quite good and I was impressed. I felt it was reasonably priced.
On the downside, we had ordered the kids hotdogs and they got battered sausages but that may have been us not reading the description correctly or a cultural thing! We had 2 very unimpressed kids until we shaved the sausages out of their batter!
The only other downside here was the service. The food took a long time to come and it was very difficult to order anything even though the restaurant was practically empty. The staff themselves were really nice when you could catch someone. But I’d still go back for a relaxed bite to eat.

I cannot say enough good things about this business. Staff extremely friendly, special huge shout out to Jess, Mandy and Shania who are always accommodating (love my kids burger thank you!! lol) The atmosphere is calm and very easy to dine with clients at Lunch and a bit more electric when you want to ramp it up a tier for Dinner. Menu is awesome and the food is fantastic all of the time. If only all establishments were like this! Being a rep and on the road full-time I obviously have my "go to" places but I look forward to dining here at least twice while I'm in Wanaka for the 2 days! Can't recommend them high enough! See you next month team.

Wanted to have lunch somewhere with a great view and this was the perfect venue, though you have to sit outside to get the best view of the lake and the snow covered mountains. It was a sunny winter's day so we had a lovely linch outside in the sun. We had two starters - the poppers and the calamari. Both were delicious and they were large serves. The 3 of us then shared the mussels in green curry (delicious) and the fish and chips. More expensive than standard 'pub' fare but large serves and great location so worth the money.

Let down by one meal out of four. Four people and three nice meals, the seafood chowder a stand out. However the hot and spicy battered prawns a disaster. From the time they arrived all diners were saying they look over cooked and overcooked they were, like hard little nuggets. Probably should have been sent back as they should never have left the kitchen. A shame really as the service was very good and nice view looking over the lake but let down by the kitchen.

We arrived on the evening of an All Blacks V’s England game the restaurant was fully booked and we had no reservation but Pete was amazing managed to arrange us a table on a fully booked busy evening.
The food was great and wait times were minimal service was excellent.
The Fish n Chips was delicious Blue Code both my wife and I had. The kids had burgers and kids ribs both excellent.
Sticky date pudding to die for 😋
Definitely be back

Great location, overlooking the lake. We chose this bar/restaurant because it seemed to have a good atmosphere. I have food intolerances, which makes eating out difficult at times. Paddy on the reception desk was very friendly and helpful, and able to give me a good idea of what I could eat.
We came back later in the evening and were able to get a table near the front, in the bar section. It became busy later on, so it would probably be best to book a table in the restaurant at the back in peak season.
The bar staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the short rib of beef and blue cod in beer batter. They were delicious and portion size was good. I can’t believe the potato gratin was dairy free!

Wow, 5 out of 5 food and service!! Our group of 7 had the pleasure of lunch here a couple of days ago and we all walked out with huge smiles.
The seafood chowder was incredible and both the entree and main sizes were huge! 10/10
The blue cod was absolutely amazing, super fresh and the beer batter was just perfect, another very generous portion size 10/10
The chicken ceaser salad also scored a 10/10!!

I was originally going to simply have their Salt & Pepper Squid as a snack but, having been disappointed by the similarly named (but VERY different) snack in Queenstown the day before, I upgraded to to the full salad when I noticed that on their ‘specials’ board.
Boy, am I pleased the previous day’s experience didn’t put me off - I have eaten Salt & Pepper Squid all round the world and can honestly say that what I ate here was definitely in the top 3, possibly the best ever !!!
I suggest someone goes to the Red Rock Bar Cafe in Queenstown and show they how it’s done !!!
Lovely staff and amazing setting overlooking the lake (clue’s in the name!).

We wanted fish or seafood and this is the only restaurant we found that offers it. Beautiful terrace overlooking the lake. Smiling and pleasant team, efficient service. We enjoyed our mussel dishes as well as our glasses of white wines.

Stopped here en route through Wanaka. Good lakeside location but not impressed with the food. Only had a snack as late afternoon but the food was not good. Menu not an accurate reflection of what was in the Cauliflower entree dish. Drowning in overpowering bbq sauce and an aoli that was not mentioned on the menu description. Wouldn't eat here again.

Had the calamari salad. It was nice but needed more dressing as lacked a little flavour in the actual salad (calamaris were pretty delish). One thing I don’t like though is large pieces of lettuce as personally I find it lazy not to cut it finer.
The thing I find annoying though is the tomatoes were well and truly pre cut and then popped back in the fridge and by the time I ordered my salad the tomatoes had turned floury and flavourless. It’s a shame as saving time pre cutting them ruins the flavour and takes 2 seconds to cut and toss on the salad.
Never got asked how we found our meals, barely even saw a waitress except to get a drink and order.
What I found interesting. They had a sign out the front saying ‘Fare game Fiordland Venison’. I asked what made it fare game, and the waitress said it’s not farmed. I asked is the deer shot out of a helicopter and she didn’t know. Farmed is a much nicer cut of meat generally as the helicopter shot deer is generally a lot cheaper and tougher meat.

Noticed the place visibly from the lake and in great location. Nice & comfy feel inside, great service from the waitress if I recall from Montana, USA? always checking if we needed anything and topping up drinks. Ordered the seafood chowder which was massive, biggest serving of chowder I've seen with the toasted bread thing to go with it. and best tasting chowder too! Ordered the mussels which had a lovely sauce that had a Thai feel as nice and spicy. The Rib-eye for mains was PERFECTLY cooked and melt in your mouth delicious with salad and fries... one word...YUMMMMMY! Paid $140 for 4 meals including drinks and totally worth it for the value of portion and taste quality. Was 2 of us so they were quite impressed we finished the meals lol. Will definitely go back if we're in Wanaka again.

We had a birthday lunch here for the family. The seafood chowder was amazing, creamy and large serving with beautiful home made bread.
Others had the most generous fis and chips ever! Blue eye cod was superb and beautifully presented, as was the chicken Caesar salad. All combined with friendly service.
Highly recommended.
Everyone left happy and full.

We were most pleased with our dinner here a couple of weeks ago. The outside tables were bustling with people, inside the restaurant the place started to fill during our meal.
I had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken; my daughter had the lemon pepper calamari salad - both were large helpings - great value for money.

The service was amazing The waitress was friendly and very informative and helpful. She informed us about the specials and took our drinks order and told us that there is no hurry for us to order our food. The waitress made conversation with us asking where are we from and also gave us some tips on what we could do in wanaka. After a few drinks we ordered some food and it came out really quick. The food was absolutely awesome.
