Eight of us visited here this week. Mixed reactions to our experience. Really nice staff and smart new premises with sandpit for younger kids. Good value food for kids. However, we felt that the 'grown-ups' food was overpriced given the small portions and that the food was relatively plain when compared to what you can get for the same money... More

We were only going in for coffees on our way out for a day around Wanaka, and we're so impressed with the amount of gluten free food available and in the glass cabinet ready to go. Unfortunately we just had breakfast, but it all looked healthy and tasty - so great to see!

Visiting Wanaka for the weekend and had breakfast this morning at Double Black! We had museli and avo toast both were delish and the coffee was awesome! Not too busy and a cute atmosphere! Love it and highly recommend!

Quickly becoming our favourite cafe in the Wanaka area. The service is always friendly, and the food choices are a little different to other standard cafe offerings (i.e. think cauliflower fritters etc.). Though still the standard scones/muffins (which area also good!). The sweets are some of the best around, and they often have samples for you to try first. Outside... More

We came here after reading the TripAdvisor reviews and were very impressed by the food. There is a limited choice of savoury items but certainly enough for us. We had a chicken pie and a steak pie together with an amazing beetroot said which had plenty of other great ingredients. The coffee was excellent and the choice of sweet offerings... More

Great cabinet food and a very interesting and creative menu. Probably the best cafe style cuisine in the area. Staff are friendly and service is excellent. Currently our favourite spot in Wanaka/Albertown for daytime eating. Still a bit of a secret spot but already building a great reputation locally. Well located for bikers returning to Wanaka from the Deans Bank... More

our second visit to Double Black decided to give it another try. The music is uncomfortably loud. The choice of sweet treats looks good although we didn't try. The choice of savoury food was quite limited and repetitive, we all selected something with Pumpkin in it two different dishes. If you closed your eyes you would not have had a... More

Our favourite cafe in Wanaka, off the beaten track in Albertown. Great coffee and good variety of food all prepared on the premises. It's truly a locals place, and a great place to recover after a bike ride.

This is the first cafe in 2 weeks of travelling NZ's South Island that has wifi that works! So I'm writing this as I sit here enjoying the bliss of a wonderful repast. On our cycle from Wanaka to Arthur Town and back again we stopped here for lunch. Great veggie and gf options. Everything looked scrumptious and healthy. Staff... More
