Such great food, service &!excellent craft beer on tap to top it off. The best restaurant in Twizel - you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend (& I’m very fussy).

Arrived at Poppies with my husband and two other friends. In fact, we had been fishing and caught no fish. So I Ordered the Salmon on the menu and was totally blown away. The Salmon was perfectly cooked and the spinach and kumara vegetables accompanied...the meal perfectly but what was outstanding, was the topping on top of the Salmon. A perfect balance. Will highly recommend a visit to Poppies in Twizel.More

Lamb curry was dreadful. Worst curry I have had in years. More like a soup and meat was tough. Asked for the salmon entree as a main. It was delicious but over rated on describing the accompaniments. Decorative only. Creme brulee was delicious and top...marks to the staff, very efficient and cheerful. Highly over priced for the quality.More

We had eaten at Poppies before when travelling South, and it was always very good. Booked a table as not sure how busy it will be, and promptly seated by very welcoming and happy staff (could see the smiles despite the masks :-)) We choose...a NZ Rose to celebrate, and shared the cured salmon as starter - absolutely delicious, and in hindsight, we both should have had a portion each… Sauted lamb as the main, perfectly cooked, and the sauce with the blue cheese - simply outstanding, and a generous portion, together with perfectly cooked veggies as a side. Finished with the creme brulee and Kapiti ice cream - and the staff made a special effort with this dessert, to make this day and dinner one to remember for a long time - one of my best birthday meals in a very long time! Speaking of staff: I/we can’t complement the staff members enough, from start to finish - Julie, Rachel and the chef (sorry, forgot the name) were so friendly, genuine and provided the perfect service with the happiest of smiles!More

All of the reviews we read were correct and we were not disappointed - the breakfast satisfied all 6 of us -"although 1 would have enjoyed a muesli/ fruit option - the service was excellent, busy when we arrived but did not have to wait...long and it is a very comfortable, nicely decorated friendly atmosphere ✅More

Despite coming to Twizel for a number of years this is only my second visit to Poppies the first being last month. Then my son and I wanted something to eat mid afternoon. Despite this not being in between menus we were made to feel...welcome. My son having fish and chips myself the cheese scone. Excellent service. Fast forward to today and we are here for NZ rowing championships with my husband in tow. Son had the fish and chips, again excellent. I had the burrito my husband the toasted sandwich. Tasty fare served quickly with great customer service.. The waitress remembered me from last time…Highly recommend.More

order the Asparagus risotto - it was tasteless. As a cook myself you cook the risotto all ingredients to together, it tasted like all cooked separately and mixed just before serving, also the asparagus was not not fresh but from a can. shame

We were advised that this was the place to dine by our shuttle driver from Cycle Journeys. The menu had a great selection, and the meals we chose were of generations tasty portions. Comprehensive wine list all all matched with excellent service
