This is on top of the hills next to the Medora Musical and the Burning Hills theatre. Most people reserve this and then walk across the parking lot to watch the musical. The food is good but I think perhaps a little pricey. The steak is not cooked to order(unless you get to the pit where they are cooking it with pitch forks and can request one to your liking). The food is served on a metal tray and the sides included baked potato with butter and sour cream on the side, coleslaw, carrots with ranch, balked beans and fresh fruit. It also includes water, lemonade or coffee and dessert (brownies or 2 mini donuts). Adult dinners are $30 and kids having a hot dog meal are $8 (all the same sides) and on Sundays kids eat free.

I feel bad for the people who didn't enjoy this, the view alone with worth the money! But I don't eat meat too often, mostly just chicken (and the occasional taco). I got the vegetarian option (my husband got the steak and my daughter the kid) but once I was there and smelled the steak I wanted to change! We upgraded my ticket and my steak was amazing! We had so much to eat! My daughter likes raw carrots and ranch so that was a hit for her, the coleslaw was very tasty so we traded! Our baked potatoes were perfectly cook (crispy skin, soft inside) and who hates garlic bread? The view was spectacular, you get to look out over the town and the surround valley. My daughter got doughnuts and dropped them, and they were kind enough to let her get more. The lemonade was great, not too sweet or sour. I enjoyed it all but I don't really like to complain too much. If you want something new and different, this is a great place to go, especially right before the musical! We stuffed ourselves and still had food left on our plates!

We were impressed with the spacing and sanitation due to Covid. It was very organized and when you went to the buffet line, they said they would just give you a little of everything and you pick up your tray at the end of the line. You could also go back and get more of something if you asked. The food was average but pretty good considering the large number of people they feed. Steak was too rare for me but there was plenty of everything else on the tray to eat. Brownies were delicious!

We did the steak fry before the musical. It was so good!!! My only suggestion would be, be aware you can get a hot dog for the kids if they don’t eat steak. No one told me that when I bought tickets and so I paid for 3 steak dinners, but ended up with 2, cause my kid got the hot dog dinner instead. It was all good, I loved it so much I could bypass that “kimplaint” The food was very tasty, VERY filling, and an experience all in itself. The staff working was very accommodating and super friendly. I’d like better alcohol choices, but again, I’m telling ya like it is. Walking around after eating is highly advised before the musical because you’re so full!

I hate to post negative remarks, however I feel that things could be done a little different going forward. The steak was cold and raw, potato was also cold, could not melt butter (my suggestions going forward is wrap the potatoes in aluminum foil) and maybe ask how we would like our steaks cooked. beans were cold. Loved the coleslaw and desserts. I felt the worker bees did a great job on the clean up. We felt the pitchfork steak fondue was very over priced. We will not be back.

We made reservations for 6pm before a 7:30 Medora Musical show. It's just across the parking lot from the amphitheater with a sweeping view of the Badlands, and quite a windy location; cups, napkins and paper items went flying. The volunteers check your tickets to see what you ordered and paste a small sticker on your shirt with the info. The you pick up a metal tray and cutlery wrapped in a napkin and head to one of several buffet lines to fill it with as much of the hot and cold items as you'd like. If you purchased a steak, you go up to the counter where they are waiting to drop a just-cooked, hot steak in the middle of your tray. Beverages are in a separate line, as is dessert. We were told to sit anywhere we'd like, even though our tickets had assigned seats. It was extremely efficient, and the food was better than I expected. I was impressed with how well it all worked.

Had a reservation on 07/05/2021 for 06:15pm, picked up our food (Family Style) and sat down to eat. Between 06:30pm and 06:45pm 5 people came by our table and asked if we were done and could they take our trays. At 06:45pm they started to shut down, put all the desserts away while we were still eating. We asked for our steaks to be rare, they said they "strived to cook all the steaks medium," however, they were all closer to well done than medium. We spent $130 for a meal for 3 that was not very good and was very rushed. Food and service sucked. On the good side, the greeters were super nice, and the view was great. Overall, wouldn't recommend to anyone, extremely disappointing for the price.

We had a 5:30 time slot but were able to sit down earlier. Near the front of the line for the food. You purchase tickets for either steak or veggies (all the other food - beans, veggies, bread, potatoes). Tip - we had a party of 8. We ordered 4 steaks and four veggie meals. When we got back to our seat, we split all the steaks. Steak was good - and the fixing were good. Open cash bar wasn't expensive. Choice of donuts or brownie for dessert. Coffee, lemonade and water available. Seating was at picnic tables (covered and uncovered areas). There was a musician playing during dinner.

very unique experience for July 4. beautiful location on a bluff overlooking a pretty valley. the steaks are cooked on pitchforks in vats of sunflower oils, 8 at a time. seating is outside or under an open air roof. beer and wine available. masks on all the staff and many customers. after getting checked in you head for the buffet line for your sides-wet nasty slaw, plain carrots from a bag, cold garlic bread, baked beans from a can, and bit of cut melon. Baked potato was pretty good but fresher would have been better. butter and sour cream served in single serve containers. the steaks are picked up from a table next to the cooking area. it appeared that the thicker your steak, the "better" (moister) it was going to taste. wife's was pretty good but mine was pretty tough. upon further investigation, steaks cooked but not needed any time soon are placed above the oil to keep them warm but it dries them out. decent desserts of frosted brownies and cinnamon mini donuts. fun atmosphere and really friendly folks running the show. just don't expect high quality meal.

We did this during COVID. They served everything too you, clean and fast. At times we’d say too fast because some of the food was slopped on your plate. They even clean up your spot when your done. It is a cowboy meal. My steak was prepared better then my husbands so beware they are all different. It comes with coleslaw, beans, fruit, Carrots, garlic break and a baked potato. Many condiments to choose from. You sit family style at picnic tables. It is your discretion how close you sit to people be Safe and ask if it is okay to sit with another group. Everyone has different views. There is plenty of seating however minimal with shade. I’m pregnant and require shade when it’s 90haha. We had a great time visiting with a couple from Oregon while we ate. We enjoyed everything.

This was a very average experience for us. You are basically herded in. Passed a plate of food, which was watermelon, raw carrots with ranch dressing, cold garlic bread, store bought cole slaw and BBQ beans. Then we where pointed to the steak line where you get whatever temp steak they put on your plate. The only stand out food was the steak and beans. This has so much potential to be a fantastic experience. The drink choices where brown water (literally) and lemonade. Other beverages where extra which we gladly purchased based on the complimentary items. The fellows cooking the steak where very friendly, offering local advice. The setting was breathtaking!!! Soon after sitting down we where advised to hurry along because another wave of guest where arriving and they needed us out of there. My take away is do not drive out of your way and if you have extra money for an average dinner this is good for you, otherwise your in cattle country. The good steaks and fixin are everywhere!!!

Open air eating lured us in, but bus loads of people corralled together digging into a communal buffet was not my kind of $$$ dining experience During covid times. When I asked woman in charge she said they switched back to help yourself because of the risk from covid from touching things isn’t there??? Really ?and no hand washing area close to this place only a hand sanitizer station which EVERYONE collectively ignored. husband didn’t want any of the buffet food at all and just took the steak which they dropped on the plate for you. Shame because the views beautiful and outside eating was what we were seeking. We traveled from PA to Yellowstone Grand Tetons and this was our only yucky experience. Great trip overall

The whole point of going to the pitchfork steak fondue was to see how the steak was prepared. When we arrived friendly staff sent to a serving station where we were served our food on a tin tray. Then to another station to get our already cooked steak. Food was cold and average.

We got there at about 5:20 for our 5:30 scheduled time. The steaks were overdone (they said they were all mediums, but two of the three steaks we had were well done). Not only that, but the steaks tasted as if they were sitting under a warmer for a long time. Everything was lukewarm at best, and it was hot outside. All for close to $40 per person. We were all disappointed and said we would never be back. Don't waste your money!

We listened to live music from a ND native while dining with great views. Sunday and Wednesday nights kids eat free (hot dog meal) with an adult meal. Grab what you're going to eat the first time through the buffet line ("the fixings") because there is no second time through. The brownies are delicious for dessert! The hot dogs were liked by 1/3 of the kids--they were big hot dogs (plump and long). Seating is clustered picnic benches. Put your beverage on your napkin to keep the nice breeze from taking it away. Make sure to pick your time to your eat. There was plenty of room to sit, but the line gets long as the times open up.
